Waters of Taev
The Waters of Taev are a cosmic substance in direct opposition to The Ohkinate Web. While both are a source of magic, the Waters provide users with the same traits they possess on the cosmic scale: abilities of corruption, chaos, and entropy; however, more nuanced abilities have been discovered throughout history. Just like the Web, the Waters are spread amongst most corners of the planar map, including the exterior of Laminarum after its removal from the greater universe.
Within the Water, one is sure to find any manner of cosmic horrors, though not before becoming one yourself. No mortal can resist its eldritch power without some form of protection, and even gods have struggled to withstand it (such as Rel Eteisus, who succumbed to corruption entirely, if the tales are true). The other beasts that succumb possess no known directive, growing to exist beyond our comprehension. Few of these creatures are explicitly written about, though their presence is common as they seep through Laminarum's protective silk barrier. One that is explicitly written about is the namesake of the Waters: Taev. This exceptional 'creature' is said to ooze and bleed these waters as it travels into and out of any number of dimensions. As with his brood, Taev's motives are unknown, though he killed the father of the Ohfjuren and original patriarch of the Ohdaufeen.
There have been a few myths about gods surviving the Waters, with the most popular being "The Reincarnate Promise, Vorehem's Voyage." Typically, surviving is not the only tricky endeavor, since tracing one's path across the Waters is nearly impossible. If you are to enter, expect to become lost indefinitely.
Within the Waters is another unique source of magic: The Well of Heien. Heien, another Uthuquate, once protected this source of potent light for unknown reasons. Upon being defeated by Ornjack and the Ohfjuren brothers, Taopin was able to drink from the Well and gain his domain of reincarnation. The exact function of the Well is unknown, but it may be a focal point for the Waters to release, only becoming sullied as they are spread thin throughout the universe; this has led to the popular theory that the Well is a wound on Taev, but no one can say for sure. Thankfully, the well is rarely exploited by those who search for it (such as Milin Orphi), as its location is eternally indefinite and obscured by the Waters (especially without Heien serving as a beacon for its presence).
