The Burning Wizard

While there is no sign announcing the name of the tavern, The Burning Wizard is well-known as Beregost's most beloved watering hole. Why is it so popular, you ask? Let me refer you to the tavern's elite staff: hand-selected members of Lathander's faithful, specially trained in the arts of small talk and mixology. Don't arrive with an empty stomach, however. Food service is limited to what can be conveyed by runners to other local establishments. While Volo only rated it 3/5 flagons overall, the drinks are a solid 4.5/5 wineskins. The missing half a wineskin is due to you getting too drunk and spilling a bit. The Burning Wizard is usually busy, but that means that it's a good place to run into locals and visitors with interesting stories ... or interesting work.

Architecture

Not exactly a notable architectural feature, but the Burning Wizard would fit in well in our modern world. The tavern's walls are covered with various bits of flair and other ridiculous pieces of memorabilia donated by its patrons.

History

The tavern's name is a reference to the destruction by Calishite mages of Ulcaster's famous school of magic in 1106 DR. Construction of the tavern was completed centuries later, long after Beregost recovered from the loss of its greatest attraction. Built by the clergy of Lathander as a place for the less religious-minded people of Beregost to congregate, share some good times, and pass some coin into the coffers of the pious servants of the Morninglord. The speculative venture has served the clergy well and much of the funds raised by The Burning Wizard are reinvested into services provided to the town.
