Thunder Hammer Smithy

While the renowned Thunder Hammer Smithy earned its sterling reputation under the hammer of his grandfather Taerom, the man at the forge these days is Shelvan Fuiruim. In Taerom's time, Volo rated the Thunder Hammer a solid 4/5 and, by all accounts, Shelvan still operates the smithy at this high level.

While he lacks his grandfather’s creativity and ingenuity, Shelvan is no slouch behind an anvil and people come from far and wide to purchase his wares—particularly his weapons.

Merchants from Amn have continued to rely upon Thunder Hammer and frequent the smithy during their stopovers in Beregost on their way to Baldur's Gate and beyond. As did Taerom, Shelvan employs nearly a dozen apprentices in order to meet the demand for his high quality wares.

History

Local legends peg the height of Taerom Fuiruim at just over seven feet and a width of nearly four. He was said to be particularly adept at crafting arms and armour of a quality suitable for enchantment by local wizard Thalantyr of High Hedge. To this day, Shelvan carries forward the art of forging armour from the shells of ankheg.
