The Great Fresh Sea

The Great Fresh Sea sits in the center of the The First Island and within its center in the sacred Fountain of Minrath. The Fresh Sea a neutral zone because of the Holy site in its center, however, the rivers surrounding the Fresh Sea are not neutral. This means that all those from countries not found on the First Island must negotiate their way to the Fresh Sea and the sacred fountain. Also, due to its neutrality military and police vessels are forbidden on the waters except in escort of a ruler on a diplomatic mission; this allows for many fugitives, exiles, and anyone else that wants to disappear to reside on the islands that dot the Fresh Sea. There are spaces free of the criminals among these folk that are maintained by the Monks of Minrath for those on pilgrimage or supplying their monastery at the Fountain.
