The Underdark

If you dig too deep in many areas of Minrath you will find sand and water, as is normal for islands. However, deep beneath the large landmass that is the First Island, you will find the Underdark. This area is a dangerous place but the humanoids living there are not necessarily hostile to surface dwellers nor the Dwarves of Vilhum Du. There are many precious magical materials to be found in the Underdark from gems to metals to unique plants used for spells, therefore, a tenuous relationship exists between the Deep Dwellers and the Surface Dwellers. While there are underground rivers and lakes the Deep Dwellers are some of the few races that don’t have a cultural history around boats and water nor much experience with them.
