Savu'shivi

Table of Contents
A village built by the Talma'kabi tribe.

Demographics

The tribe was known to include about 10% Werewolves long before the Purity Law took form. By the time their villages were wiped out, it was estimated that roughly 30% of their population were fugitives from Fir'arun.   The soldiers who burned Savu'shivi to the ground reported finding numerous illegal Mixbloods, both of Steppe and Northern Forest Elf ancestry.

Government

Like most Talma'kabi villages, this one was led by a council of elders. This council decided on anything that affected the entire community, managed trade and defensive support across settlements, and resolved disputes between inhabitants.

Defences

Being near the entrance to the valley, Savu'shivi was rather exposed to external attacks. Consequently, the village was surrounded by a brick wall roughly 5m in height, and the majority of young men trained as warriors.

Industry & Trade

Savu'shivi specialized in fishing and domesticated waterfowl, as well as cultivating various fruits.   All products were gathered in a central storage building, where a group of overseers ensured that they were fairly distributed among the inhabitants. Any surplus was traded with neighboring villages.   If somebody wanted more than the usual share, they either had to trade in something of matching value or convince the council of elders that they needed a bonus. Refugees typically arrived with minimal personal belongings, and so they often received such a bonus until they were able to contribute.

History

The Beginning

The village was founded in the year 1165, shortly after the Talma'kabi arrived in the valley and decided to settle down.   During the following century, the Northern Forest Elves made several attempts to take the valley. Savu'shivi played a key role in defending the tribespeople due to its position near the valley's entrance.

A Safe Haven

An era of peace followed, until news reached the village that the Kingdom of Fir'arun had declared relationships between Elves and Werewolves illegal. Most Werewolf inhabitants were deeply concerned by this development and brought the issue before the council of elders. The council quickly came to the decision that any fugitives would be welcome, and the other settlements quickly followed their example.   In New Winter of 1377, several volunteers left the valley to carefully spread the word and direct affected families towards safety. Most fugitives passed through Savu'shivi and traveled further into the valley, but some decided to stay and help improve the defenses.

Extinction

Unfortunately, not only the fugitives learned of this sanctuary. In early 1382, the Royal Army arrived and put their defenses to the test. The Talma'kabi successfully warded off three smaller attacks before they had to face an unexpectedly large and well-equipped battalion. The outermost villages were quickly overwhelmed, and within three days, the entire population of the valley was wiped out.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! ^^   Yeah, I also felt really sad writing about their end. But good news - one of their warriors survived, and will join a gang of rebels on a quest against the evil king. >:)
