Tormau Rebellion - Opening Gambits (Spring 721TR)

Spring 721

Earl Denyl Lynnaeus, the Earl of Tormau has refused to swear fealty to King Chafin III Araku the ruthless King of Rethem. As a result, he has been named Outlaw, and his life and lands are forfeit. A civil war has broken out.

The free City of Golotha remains technically neutral ground and Hyen, the domain of the Copper Hook has not taken sides at this stage.

Opening Gambits

Battle of Chakta and the Capture of Omnis 28 Peonu 721

The Company of the Copper Hook joining the rebels was a shock to the Royal forces. It was expected that they would remain neutral in the conflict instead of concentrating their efforts antagonizing the Knights of the Checkered Shield and the Kingdom of Kanday.

1) Rebel Forces from Wesenda supported by a continent from the Baron of Henwe move to Chakta. These are met by a Royal army from Chakta supported by the Barony of Omnis, including the Mercenary Company of the Black Bulls. The rebel forces are repelled and withdraw back to Henwe. This is a diversionary attack.

2) Copper Hook strikes with a surprise from the hills cutting the roads between Omnis and Chakta. With a high degree of co-ordination, half dozen villages and manors are sacked.

3) The main Copper Hook forces attack Castle Omnis. With the bulk of its garrison with the royal army near Chakta, the surprised and massively outnumbered defenders are quickly overwhelmed. The rebels capture Omnis.

Siege of Quste 15 Kelen 721.

1) At the onset of the war, King Chafin moves his army based at Shostim to Quste from the north and the Baron Orgatt of Beka attacks from the south. All manors save Quste Keep are captured, including the rich salt plans. The Baron Subla Uldseth is besieged in Quste Keep.

2) On the 15 Kelen the large Order of the Cohorts of Gashang army arrives from the Thardic Republic and leads the attack. Massively outnumbered Quste falls to the royal army, and all the garrison, including Baron Uldseth, are killed.

Shortly after, the garrison receives significant reinforcements from Ilthiko, Zaza, and the mercenary company, the Band of the Bloody Gauntlet.

Itikus

The Sisterhood of the Crimson Dancer deployed by sea to Ithius with additional mercenaries. The Dancers undertake cross border raids and inconclusive skirmishes with Ithiko.
