Thorek was the oldest of three brothers,
Uruk and
Varkrass who all were chieftains amongst a tribe of Nordmarian Orcs. Thorek was known as an incredibly smart, warlike and powerhungry orc warchieftain.
A Nordmarian Orc
In the 870's Thorek led this tribe through the gap of Orzammar to the southern lands. Here they became drawn to a necromancer named
Angmar. When he constructed the keep of
Angmar(settlement:5996b754-79f2-4b52-841a-7a38fab7ed37) in 890, Thorek and his brothers forged an unholy alliance. In return for eternal life they swore fealty to Angmar's cause. The next 35 years they provided Angmar with an army against the people of @[Geldrin. The
Humans forged an alliance with the
Dwarves of the
Kingdom of Mazaar and succeeded in repelling the attacks, eventually even killing Angmar. Thorek and his tribes were dispersed and routed into the
Dragontail Mountains. Here they built a new existence by raiding the Thedasian countryside, but they always kept their eye on their hated foes.
The Witch King returns
In 1195 the Girger lay a terrible curse on the Kingdom of Thedas. Geldrin was the only province unaffected, but decades of war and the loss of the main lands of Thedas, left it vulnerable. Thorek finally smelled his oppurtunity, called together the tribes of the Dragontail Mountains and launched an offensive against the people of Geldrin. They succeeded and routed the people, condemning them to a life of refugees as the
Bands of Brothers. Thorek rebuilt Angmar and crowned himself the new Witch King.
Expansion and defeat
In 1353 Thorek had grown restless. The region of Geldrin felt small, compared to his ambitions. He tasked his brothers Uruk and Varkrass to take a large portion of the warhorde and travel across the
Red Waste to the Wilds in order to bring the
Orcs there under his heel. After a rough trip across the desert Uruk settled in
Orcia and Varkrass founded the kingdom of Orsinium. This move had left the forces of Geldrin depleted and the Bands of Brothers used this opportunity to retake large parts of their realm.
His brothers seemed unwilling to return, so Thorek had to devise another way to drive those pesky humans from his land. For answers he turned to necromancy. His shamans started collecting and studying the process of resurrection. Thorek set his sights on the resurrection of his former master, Angmar. He would teach those intruders a lesson. This terrible process was halted however, when
The Night's Watch entered the lands of Geldrin in 1395 and learned of his plan.
Marcus Vardenfell convinced most of the Bands to join his cause and led a rush attack on the keep of Angmar. Here he duelled Thorek and finally decapitated him, ending the Second
Kingdom of Angmar.
