Reverend Morris Behart

Reverend Morris Behart leads his flock from the Greystone Baptist Church located at what he likes to call "the heart of the town," though I'd quibble and say it's just east of dead center. To each their own.   You will likely never meet a person so committed to the Christian faith as Reverend Behart. He takes his leadership responsibility seriously, both in his church and in his wider community. He accepts that not everyone in town is Baptist gracefully enough, though he's less enthusiastic when he learns someone isn't Christian. Still, I think he'd rather break bread with a Hindu, Jew, or Muslim than even trade greetings with a spiritualist or, even worse, someone who believes in the occult. He has a chilly but civil relationship with Daisy Clevenger but absolutely despises Prof. Amos Church, who he suspects is in league with the devil.   At the root of Reverend Behart's philosophy is that supernatural phenomenon simply do not exist. Rather, they are the manifestation of a sinner's guilty imagination. While Morris believes that the only true salvation can be found through Christ, he concedes that the devil's wicked power over people's minds sometimes must be abated by playing along, and has he himself conducted "mock" exorcisms and performed other pseudo-Christian cleansing rituals of his own design. He has read extensively on what he calls "the charlatan's art" of occultism and spirituality and proffers to help the so-called supernaturally afflicted with their ailments, provided they renounce any such worldly beliefs and promise their lives to Christ in exchange.   Though it goes without saying, Reverend Behart is not a lot of fun at parties.

History

The moment Morris saw Bernard, he did NOT like how odd he looks. Bernard did not want anything to do with him, less so after Morris insist that he should be cleansed from the devil and the occult. Bernard knows what's wrong with himself, and doesn't think a person who doesn't believe in the occult would be able to help him remove the vaesen remnant in him with Chirstian exorcisms. Bernard wishes to stay away from this man as much as possible, to save him from much grief, lest he triggers his vaesen.

History

Morris's disbelief in her writings she posted about the mysteries surrounding Munson, NY put a bad taste in her mouth. He preaches about the supernatural not existing, and to Charity it feels like he does not realize the mysteries or people that surround him with his mock exorcisms being very offensive to her.

History

Morris' philosophies and overall personality do not bode well for Thomas, as it goes against what he sees about people. As someone who isn't really religious but is open to people believing their own cause, it angers him seeing this man being so secluded about Christianity. He thinks the man to be irrational, and wonders what makes him tick so easily.

Though he may be of a different denomination, the good reverend is still a man of God, and holds a similar disdain for these trifling rumors of the occult.

History

Though he did not intend to do so, Merdu was speaking of his "blessings" in great detail a little too close to Reverend Behart's church. After a heated debate between the two and a foolish, open denouncement of God's teachings, Merdu is no longer welcome at the Greystone Baptist Church. This is not a true ban as much as it is a strong suggestion from the reverend.
