Great Forest
Geography
Despite its name, The Great Forest is more similar to the tropical jungles and rainforests found elsewhere in the world. This incredibly dense jungle is located at the center of Central Aisoa. To its west is The Ash, and to its east is the coastal country of Iccot.
The jungle is a difficult hilly terrain with massive trees that form a nearly impenetrable canopy, causing some parts of it to be in near perpetual darkness and lit only by the strange bioluminescent plants that grow there.
Fauna & Flora
The Great Forest is overflowing with life of all sorts. In contrast to the mundane creatures outside of the forest, the creatures that reside in the forest are almost alien in their appearances.
If the terrain alone makes a trek through the jungle hazardous, the creatures of the forest make it deadly. Numerous powerful fey dwell in the Great Forest along with multitudes of magical creatures they helped create. Some humanoids call the jungle their ancestral home, including elves and feyfolk.
It is said to be where the Ancient goddess Qamara dwells, along with all of the fey she created.
Natural Resources
The Great Forest is filled with strange and unique plants, many of which are imbued with the same magic that infuses the rest of the jungle. As the druids of the forest can attest, a sprig from a several hundred year old magical plant makes for a powerful spell focus. Though the inhabitants of the forest do little trading, numerous adventurers delved into the dark of the forest specifically to retrieve a handful of valuable herbs.
Most plants native to the Great Forest wither and die if planted outside of the forest, leaving little time to get fresh ingredients to their final destination.
