Blythe (a.k.a. "Strawberry Girl")

Blythe is an oread born from a patch of wild strawberries. She is friendly and kind, always eager to meet new people and make new friends. Despite her fondness for wearing the color black, her name, meaning "happy" or "carefree," is deeply reflective of her cheerful personality.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

The tendrils on her head are strawberry plants. They emerge directly from her body. During the spring, strawberries and flowers bloom on the tendrils. Plucking them does not cause her any pain.

Physical quirks

Gains her energy primarily from sugar and sunlight (which is partially why she wears black,) though she will occasionally eat foods that contain other necessary nutrients. Eating meat makes her physically ill.

Special abilities

She has the ability to cause strawberry plants to thrive. The strawberries that grow from the tendrils on her head give the consumer healthy energy and aid in the recovery from mild illnesses.

Blythe primarily wears clothing in shades of black and gray. She is very fond of silver jewelry.

Creation

Like other nymphs, Blythe was born from a setting in nature where a strong emotional experience had taken place. In her case, the experience was a family picnic that had occurred a few days prior next to the patch of wild strawberries that created her. Being born fully-formed into a busy, complicated world like New Terra was a confusing experience for Blythe, but luckily she found people who were willing to help her create a life for herself.

Blythe's current purpose is to make the vast concrete and steel landscape of California City as green as possible.

Loves sugar. Likes dogs and dark fashion. Dislikes overcast weather. Hates pollution and eating meat.

Tends to become dirty when gardening, but it's a "clean" kind of dirt, not an unhygenic one.

History

Meru was one of the first people Blythe met after her creation, when the nymph wandered into the California City Natural History Museum's botanical gardens a few hours after coming into existence, curious about all the trees and plants she could see beyond the fences. Blythe's naturally gregarious personality appealed to Meru, so the two quickly became fast friends.

Both love plants and animals, are extremely empathetic, and feel disgusted by the thought of eating meat. They both collect plants and regularly exchange seeds or clippings with each other.
