Damage Indicators

When a player inflicts Damage in Combat, floating number indicators appear near the impact site for a short period of time, providing visual feedback on the effectiveness of the attack. The number indicators remain visible for a short duration of approximately 0.5 seconds before gradually fading out, allowing players to quickly assess the effectiveness of their attacks and make informed decisions during engagements. Each type of damage has a distinct color and animation associated with it.

Normal

These indicators appear in white, signifying a standard amount of damage was inflicted on the target. They float up vertically from where they appear for 0.5 seconds.

Precision

Precision hits are denoted by yellow number indicators. Precision indicators do not move from where they appear and are slightly larger than Normal damage numbers as well. These indicators are displayed for 0.75 seconds.

Effective

Particularly effective attacks that deal at least 30% increased damage are denoted with orange numbers that are the same size as Normal attacks and move in the same direction. Precision hits that are also Effective remain orange, however they are larger and are displayed for 0.75 seconds.

Lethal

Lethal damage number indicators appear in red and are slightly larger in size to Precision hit markers. Lethal indicators do not move from where they appear and are displayed for a full 1.0 second.

Reduced

Reduced damage indicators appear in gray to indicate that the attack had limited effectiveness. These numbers are slightly smaller than Normal hits, floating downwards for 0.5 seconds.

Invulnerable

When a target is immune to damage, the number indicators appear in gray with a zero, indicating that the attack had no effect on the target. These numbers look and act the same as Reduced: smaller than normal, gray, and floating downwards for 0.5 seconds.

Piercing

Attacks that bypass Overshield and deal direct damage Health. The damage amount that bypasses and penetrates into the target’s HP floats up vertically from where it appears, displayed for 0.75 seconds in red.

Force

Attacks that inflict Force damage are denoted with green numbers that float up vertically from where they appear for 0.5 seconds.

Interference

Attacks that inflict Interference damage are denoted with blue numbers that float up vertically from where they appear for 0.5 seconds.

Residual

Attacks that cause sustained damage over an extended period of time rather than immediately. Each tick of damage is indicated as white numbers, slightly smaller than Normal, which then float horizontally away from the point of appearance for 0.5 seconds.   Residual damage that is also Effective will have the same horizontal animation but orange. Similarly, Reduced and Invulnerable will be gray, Penetrating is red, Force is green, and Interference is blue. Residual damage cannot be Precision or Lethal.
