Downtime in Neverwinter
Miscellaneous
The party stays at Trinn's family estate while going about their business in Neverwinter
In the morning,
Garret wakes up early and sneaks off to the tavern to try to get some food. Meanwhile,
Valamin asked
Marri'Elle for a sparring match.
Marri'Elle does her best to not let her anger take over, and
Valamin ultimately emerges victorious. As
Garret returns, he sees the sparring match coming to an end and launches a bolt from his crossbow across the courtyard.
The party goes in to the main house and is treated to breakfast by
Trinn's family The party sits through some awkward conversation between
Trinn and his mother, Venice, about seeing his father and brother while in town. Venice is very cordial with the party. After breakfast, the party splits up to do their own thing with the agreement to meet back at
Trinn's estate around 7:00.
Trinn heads to the House of Knowledge to get some info on time magic and dragons then heads to speak with
Julia Gladius about sending support to
Phandalin.
Valamin joins
Trinn at the House of Knowledge to search citizenship records about his past, but doesn't find much. He also learns about potion making at the Starshine Academy and sends a letter to his master in the Sunset Mountains.
Garret goes to the Tower District to ask around about
Lledrith.
Reginald goes to see his sister, Janice, and her husband,
Jaesor Wisebear.
Marri'Elle joins
Reginald in his visit and then heads to the Raven's Roost to send some money to a friend back home.
At the end of the day, the party meets back at the Gladius estate for dinner.
Reginald is joined by his sister and her husband. Venice asks the party if they enjoyed the city and what they did, but it is met with timid replies. As
Trinn explains that he will likely be leaving again soon, Venice laments that her family is so busy helping
Neverwinter that they do not get to spend much time together anymore.
Julia arrives late for dinner and updates
Trinn on the little progress they have with the kobolds, and
Trinn tells Julia that they have seen another dragon near
Thundertree.
After dinner,
Reginald escorts his family home and
Valamin and
Marri'Elle decide to have another sparring match, but this time
Garret wants in as well. As the three line up to fight,
Trinn steps into the fray and humorously casts slow on the two halflings. As a result, they turn their attention to
Trinn and an all-out brawl ensues. After the two halflings are defeated by
Trinn and
Marri'Elle,
Marri'Elle turns her attention to
Trinn and this time is unable to control herself. She slams
Trinn with thunderous force and he collapses to the ground. Horrified and ashamed at what her loss of control has done, she tearfully gives him her healing potion to bring him back. The party awkwardly separates and retires for the evening.
The next morning, the party heads to the courtyard for their morning routines, but
Trinn is noticeably absent.
Reginald,
Valamin, and
Marri'Elle have a thunderous arm wrestling match. The party sets out to look for
Trinn and his told that he's at the gate between Protector's Enclave and the Chasm District. They go and see him sitting atop the wall and he tells them about what he uncovered in the House of Knowledge: a book about time magic that he would have written off as the ramblings of a crazed man just a few weeks ago, but after his encounter with Nezznar and his discovery of other magics he is questioning what is known about time magic. After this discussion, the party heads back to the Gladius estate.
When the party arrives back at the estate,
Trinn is informed of a note that was left for him by
Brother Anthus that reads:
Trinn,
Theryis Teinithra is expecting you at the House of a Thousand Faces. I believe she may have more answers than the books you looked at earlier.
Brother Anthus
A bit concerned but curious,
Trinn tells the party and asks that they accompany him to the shop. When they arrive, they see that it is a fantastic boutique and social club where the wealthy of
Neverwinter congregate.
Trinn approaches the desk in the back and is greeted by
Theryis. She mentions that
Brother Anthus told her what he was researching, and that they also share another friend in common:
Sister Garaele.
Trinn learns that both
Theryis and
Sister Garaele are members of the Harpers, a secret organization that looks to protect society by gathering and safeguarding knowledge and magic.
Theryis asks
Trinn to assist them in their cause and report any information they may discover about the Tearfall, Rage of Dragons, or Cataclysm. She gives
Trinn a coin with their symbol on it and as a show of good faith gives him some information on the dragon from Thundertree: it is a young green dragon named
Venomfang and there is a druid in the town keeping an eye on it named
Reidoth.
The party spends the rest of the day in
Neverwinter relaxing together.
Valamin continues making and mixing potions while the rest of the party goes fishing in the river bisecting the city.
Trinn also buys two draft horses and a cart from the Raven's Roost in preparation for their journey south to
Valamin's monastery. However, they first decide to investigate the cave in the mountains and Neverwinter Wood, and potentially
Thundertree.
