Valamin

Geldon Knoll

Born Geldon Knoll, Valamin was killed by a rival mercenary and left for dead. He believed he was found by monks from the Order of the New Dawn, bloody and beaten to near death, and taken to their monastery in the Sunset Mountains. When he finally awoke a month later, the master of the monastery asked him questions of his past that he could not answer. Lost and alone, he was told that he could with them at the monastery while he recuperated. His memories were lost.   While living in the monastery, he became fascinated with the monks as he watched them spar across the courtyard. He was given the opportunity to learn their mystic fighting style. A few months passed and, though the master believes he was given a chance at a new life by Lathander, he find myself wondering who he was in my old life and where he come from.   One day, his master came to him asking to go help a friend of his from the city of Neverwinter, Gundren Rockseeker. He asked why when there were much better and disciplined students. The master told him that this was an opportunity to go out and possibly regain some of his memory. Valamin agreed but was secretly afraid of what he might remember. When he arrived at Neverwinter, Valamin met with a party that was to help his master's old friend and they began their journey to Phandalin.   As his adventuring party began to fight in conflicts, Valamin started to have flashes of memories. The smell from the burnt flesh from a burning body brought back the strongest memory. The more battles he fights in, the more flashbacks he has and while nothing really makes senses, he's hopeful. Valamin continues to adventure in hopes of finding someone who recognizes him and discovering more about himself.

Valamin's Past

After traveling with the party for a couple months, Valamin gained insight into his past. While on the hunt for a group of mercenaries in Elturgard, he is met by a childhood friend, Panton Knoll. Panton is able to tell him of his past: they are from the town of Ormath in the Shining Planes and Valamin was a violent and brutal mercenary leader for the Zhentarim until he was overthrown and killed by Cyrus Cage. Panton casts a spell that is able to give Valamin some of his most intense memories back.   However, this was not the end for Valamin. Unknown to Panton, monks stumbled upon Valamin's body in the mountains and cast a spell to revive him. The spell was imperfect, and his memories did not return with his life. Valamin struggled with the stories of his past self and the life he remembers living.
