The drow wizard Tsabrak Xorlarrin channeled the Darkening upon the Silver Marches under the orders of Lolth in order to prepare for the war.
Soon, in the fall of 1484 DR, the drow minions of Quenthel Baenre incited the frost giants of the Shining White and two white dragons, Arauthator and Aurbangras, to ally with the orcs of the Kingdom of Many-Arrows, where the warmonger Hartusk gained the power.
So a large army of orcs and drow, supported by frost giants and white dragons, assaulted the Silver Marches in the War of the Silver Marches.
Несме - Nesme was destroyed by an orc horde led by Tiago Baenre riding the white dragon Arauthator[3] and Сандабар - Sundabar was conquered by an orc army commanded by the warlord Hartusk and renamed Hartusk Keep. All dwarfholds in the area— Цитадель Адбар - Citadel Adbar Цитадель Фелбарр - Citadel Felbarr and МИФРаЛоВЫЙ ЗАЛ - Mithrall Hall —and later also Серебрянная Луна - Silverymoon were besieged.
During the Battle of the Cold Vale, Bromm, one of the twin kings of Цитадель Адбар - Citadel Adbar, was tricked by the half-drow Doum'wielle Armgo and beheaded by Hartusk.[
At last, in the spring of 1485 DR, Bruenor managed to unite all the dwarven forces to retake the River Surbrin bridge from the forces of Many-Arrows. In the sky above the battle, Drizzt Do'Urden and Afafrenfere on the copper dragons Ilnezhara and Tazmikella confronted Tiago Baenre and Tos'un Armgo on the white dragons Arauthator and Aurbangras, leaving Tos'un and Aurbangras dead and Arauthator in retreat.
Then, in Flamerule, Bruenor used the dwarven Ritual of the March and managed to conquer Dark Arrow Keep, restoring it to Lorgru , its proper ruler, and defeating Hartusk's remaining armies.
At last, with the backing of Jarlaxle Baenre using Drizzt as a conduit, the turncoat drow archmage Gromph Baenre dispelled the Darkening, disguising the act as the power of Mielikki.

"Though we have not received a prophetic warning, it would seem war is upon us. Once again orcs descend from the Spine of the North to assail the region. But this time they are joined - if not led by - drow who use a magical darkness to shroud the battles in lasting night. Worse yet, they are aligned with frost giants and rumored to even have two white dragons who lay waste to the dwarven armies by lines at a time. It may come such a time as Avraathe may have to move to action despite the Platinum Dragon not directly ordering such a response." | Councilor Rethdar of Clan Dradke, High Priest of the Temple of Bahamut

The War of the Silver Marches was a conflict against orcs and dark elves in the Year of the Iron Dwarf’s Vengeance (1485 DR). The first stirrings of war began when the drow wizard Tsabrak Xorlarrin channeled the Darkening upon the Silver Marches under the orders of the drow goddess Lolth. Soon after, the drow priestess Quenthel Baenre sent her minions to convince the frost giants of the Shining White, as well as the white dragons Arauthator and Aurbangras, to ally with the orcs of the Kingdom of Many-Arrows. This large army of orcs and drow, supported by frost giants and ice dragons, assaulted the Silver Marches in the fall of 1484 DR. The war lasted nearly a year and many human and dwarven settlements and stronghold were besieged—some, such as Nesmé, were utterly destroyed. When the drow forces took Silverymoon, followed by a series of lost battles, it seemed that the war had been well and truly lost.
However, in the spring of 1485 DR, Bruenor Battlehammer, the king of Mithral Hall, managed to unite the dwarven forces of the north to retake the River Subrin bridge from the forces of Many-Arrows. This, along with an air battle fought and won by the famed hero of the North Drizzt Do’Urden, changed the tide of the war. Soon after, Bruenor conquered Dark Arrow Keep and defeated the remaining armies. The Darkening was dispelled, and the war was over.
Not surprisingly, the war had a lasting impact on the North, reaching past even the cities of the Silver Marches. The war did much to stir up virulent anti-drow and anti-orc sentiment among the common folk, and the high number of casualties left a pallor over the entire North and some of the Sword Coast. Many veterans of the war returned home to find that even though only a year had passed, the life they had known now seemed completely different, at times intolerable. Some, such as the growing Hand of the Rising Sun, were able to capitalize on this malaise and uncertainty, pushing a dangerous and fanatical worldview.
