Psedonia
Psedonia is the largest of the Three Brothers Isles, an archipelago in the northwestern Aquatic Kingdoms. It is the domain of the god Poseidon.
Geography
Unlike its neighboring islands, Psedonia is largely flat. The River Trianiax and its many tributaries run through virtually every corner of the island. In some places, this provides rich soil, ideal for water-loving crops like rice and cranberries; in others, this poses significant challenge to anyone building permanent structures on the land.
Localized Phenomena
Psedonia is the only one of the Three Brothers Isles known to host a fey population. A band of rusalkae live in the deepest estuaries of the River Trianiax, where they sometimes prey on unsuspecting villagers. Faerologists are still uncertain as to why they settled so far from the nearest known fey-windows; an undiscovered portal to the Feywild could exist within Psedonia's waters.
Climate
The low-lying wetlands of Psedonia have milder seasons than the island's higher-elevated brothers. Summers stay relatively mild, particularly in the mangrove shade; winters do not tend to freeze over the waters, though there is near-constant fog and rain from late October through mid-March.
History
Psedonia, alongside the rest of the Three Brothers Isles, sunk into the ocean during the Age of Anxiety and was raised back to the surface by decree of the Dancamortian Charter after the Litigation of Flames. Archaeological evidence occasionally surfaces that suggests that Psedonia was not a low-lying marsh before the Age of Anxiety disasters, but rather had a surface more suited to permanent buildings and perhaps even some hilly terrain. Theologists speculate that Poseidon specifically requested that his land stay as close to the water as possible.
Since its emergence from the sea, Psedonia has held a strong allegiance to the god Poseidon. The vast majority of Psedonians name him as their patron god. Psedonia's closest ally is not either of the other Three Brothers, but rather the city of Brightwater on the Liberty Coast, which also has a large population of faithful Poseidonists. This relationship has lasted since Brightwater came to Psedonia's aid in the Poseidonist Wars of the mid-Y700s.
