The Mortuary
The Mortuary in the Hive is where Sigil’s dead are interred or cremated. The Dustmen - a.k.a. 'Dusties' have a job that suits them well, and one that nobody else is keen on anyway. In the Mortuary, they’re the ones who dispose of Sigil’s deceased as 'The Cage' doesn’t have space for graveyards or crypts.
The bodies get dispatched to otherplanes. These portals lead directly to mortuaries and other places of death on each plane
- those on the other side are expecting nothing but dead bodies to come through, so those cutters who somehow manage to sneak through any of these doors are in for a nasty bit when they pass through.
- then again, there’s always the suspicion that the faction’s keeping a few back and reviving them for its own purposes ..
- Corpses are first delivered to The Receiving Room
- The body is logged into the Dead Book by The Scribe Dhall
- If a body is a Contracted then the are taken to The Preparation Room, without being stripped to be Raised
- If the corpse is not one of The Contracted, then it is stripped of all possessions, then sent to the Preparation Room
- Possessions are recorded in the The Receiving Room Logbook, and they are stored in the Receiving Room until an Initiare can come and collect them
