Ampoule (Am-pool-ay)

Glorious capital of the Hazfen Empire! Beating its chest against the harsh desert winds, none shall break it to ruins! Sand knows no wear and tear on the people of Ampoule! Sealed off from reality, the capital will prosper forever, its leaders, forever, the empire, FOREVER!

Government

The soul of the Ficium faith lies here. Various temples collect a tithe from the people as a form of tax during each ten-day's period of worship.    Twenty four Burgeonend lead the city in small sections.

Defences

The dome itself does little beyond modulating the temperature and blocks waves of heat from entering the city. The stone walls themselves though provide two layers of defense to the city as well. The larger outer wall is a rectangular shape that towers to 100ft. Here many mounted siege weapons, as well as enchanted emitters, line the surface. The inner wall on the other hand is only twenty feet tall and is much more decorative, providing the hourglass shape and allowing the central government area to be more easily regulated.

Industry & Trade

'The Hazfen River is pulled into Ampoule' so the saying goes. Trade from all things upriver is bound for the capital city. Huge amounts of magical power rest here. Whether a magic item needs repairs, or creation, the Burgeonend themselves often provide great services. Many Burgeonend make the most of their gold off of personal work here as any other part of the empire has only one or two of their kind nearby.
Military efforts are also concentrated here as each Burgeonend runs their own small force from their sectors.

Infrastructure

Over the city, a shimmering dome of water lets in dappled light. Magically suspended by ritual power.
The city is split into into twenty four section, each ruled by a Burgeonend. the walls form an hourglass shape with an outer rectangular wall around the entire shape. Each of these sections is everchanging as each Burgeonds influence waxes and wains.
The Synod of Wisdom commands the country, and city, from the center of the hourglass shape in the large Diamond of Time. The river flows directly under this building and through the entire city, snaking from west to east. The town outside the walls stretches along the river.

Districts

Twenty four districts of Ampoule are given to one Burgoend each. They represent the hours of each day.

Surrounding Areas

Ziggurat
A large stone Ziggurat shaped structure that dwarves most Burgeond temple sits in the North East of the capital outer area. It functions as a direct temple to Ficium for those who don't worship a Burgeond. It also hides many worship spaces for Spirits of the Temple. The confusing layout inside allows for many large rooms to go unfound by those who are simply walking through. Due to the lack of Burgeond visiting it many of these debatbly heretical spaces go without notice.   Many people climb the seven hundred stairs at sunset or sunrise and drink a cup of water as a act of faith.

Guilds and Factions

Each Burgeonend has a following. Each is a unique temple that many follow. They vie for control of more land in Amploue every day.

History

Created by Saric Teth as a permanent oasis in the Hazfen. He gave his life and formed the Sempiternal Tomb where his endless ritual creates the Oasis Dome  over the city. Growing over his tome, his ancestors and followers created the city around the river and under his dome.

Tourism

Thousands of followers of the Ficium faith pass through here on the river to worship in the dozens of temples found in the city. Here they can see the legendary Oasis Dome , Diamond of Time, and great towering walls the protect the city.

Architecture

Standing as a beacon of austerity to the empire. Even when blessed by the river and Oasis Dome  the people still live simple undecorative lives. The closer to the center of the city one gets, the more true it becomes. Outside the hourglass district in central Ampoule this relaxes somewhat as many Burgeonend vie for the attention of people. Some through allowing decoration, or festival, others through unique and changing methods.
An average building in the city is a stone cube with flat roofs. Between ten to thirty feet on a side and ten to forty feet tall. Sandstone compressed until it holds is all that is needed. Magically created buildings often stand out with beautiful sand strata weaving in patterns along the surfaces. Roofs with colorful awnings or covers where Hazfeni enjoy the view, is also a sight often seen from the street below.

Geography

Flowing through the city hear, the Hazfen River breaks up the stone roadways that are flat and often barren to the sight. Dunes surround the city outside the dome in a never-ending sea. Along with the river life blooms in tall palm trees and great clouds of bushes. Grassy fields and farms all draw on the life-giving wide waters.
