OttL Session 2: New friends Report

General Summary

The four players that were already on Barry the Airship offload and travel to the village of Shuffle to sell adventuring gear. Izar is handling delivery of medical supplies to The Cobalt Sanctuary. At the village, the party also meets Natsu and Thaiva Phenol. Salesmanship shenanigans ensue. Natsu steals a dagger. Izar intuits that Natsu stole a dagger but does not call her out on it. Hobbs reveals his sheer stupidity. The party meets Kiri for the first time, who seems to see something when she shakes hands with Hobbs. She attempts to question him (Who are you?) but quickly discovers this is fruitless and leaves. She does mention, however, that Hobbs is around 500 years old. This seems strange, because that would make him elderly by centaur standards, and he appears much younger (Druid Kaiser estimates closer to 300). Other NPCs, including Druid Kaiser and Izar, later mention that Kiri was asking them weird questions about Hobbs. This talk about age causes Hobbs to declare it is his birthday, and Druid Kaiser suggests the party travel to Polaris to celebrate. He even provides a note for The church of Olidammara. After much shenanigans, Natsu and Thaiva Phenol are invited to join the crew. They visit Memento Vitae's mother at Solstice Florist, but find she is not in the store. They find her in her home up above, but she sounds distressed and asks them not to come in. Natsu picks the lock to get them inside, not noticing the blood on the doorknob. Memento Caritate is inside, and she is changing bandages on her arm. There is a considerable amount of blood originating from what she claims is a snake bite. This scene causes the party considerable distress, but Memento Caritate insists everything is fine. Once she realizes that Natsu touched her blood on the door, however, she beseeches her to get checked for Moon Plague infection at The Cobalt Sanctuary. Before leaving, the party goes shopping downstairs. Hobbs takes an interest in some unidentified blue herbs, which Memento Caritate quickly takes away, explaining that she thinks it might be hemlock. It is strange, though, because while it looks like hemlock it is not the correct color. She instead sells Hobbs some other, much more harmless, blue herbs for him to cook with. The group proceeds to The Cobalt Sanctuary, where Natsu and Memento Caritate are both tested for Moon Plague. The test is quite stressful for Natsu, who is repeatedly asked "why does this make you mad?" until she has a panic attack. This is a good sign, though, because the panic does not invoke a transformation. Both parties are deemed healthy, and Hawk gives her an excellent bagel as apology. After being given a clean bill of health, the party talks to Druid Kaiser again. Memento Vitae is furious with him for not mentioning the attack, but Kaiser insists that he assumed Memento Vitae already knew, and that it really wasn't a big deal. After the panic settles down, Hobbs invites Kaiser to his birthday party in Polaris. Druid Kaiser accepts the invitation, says goodbye to the Baduhenna (try not to get set on fire while I'm gone!), and then joins the party on Barry the Airship.
