OttL Session 40: Dwight

General Summary

At the bath house, Dreamonskii makes small talk about Faren and confirms that Natsu could demand a claim on Arrius' soul given their history
Rheai regurgitates the bones of Arrius to keep as a trophy or later castings of speak with dead
Natsu helps the bathhouse clerk find his sister
Biscuit is recovered from a tree, having escaped from Caerbor Klaedris when he went into town
Hobbs asks Dreamonskii for help with flowers for the booze he is making Olidammara... and is given a list of poisons to try
Caerbor Klaedris questions the presence of Dreamonskii. Thaiva Phenol doesn't want to explain, so Femtid covers and claims that it was because of her.
Femtid considers going to the underdark in search of clues about her past life that Arrius was taunting her with. She is promptly talked out of it
Caerbor Klaedris advises Thaiva Phenol in politics as she considers trying to get a duchy of her own to rule over
Redacted drops by The Wandering Tavern and sees the pandemonium that is going on. Even Simolio has been hastily reassigned. It seems Arrius has gone missing after arriving to the Astral Sea and Ouroboros is helping to track him down as well as distract Lolth's forces.
The villagers of Shippo swarm Natsu's home and ask a lot of questions. They meet two named characters in this process - Elder Katsuo and Naozuma
Natsu has another vision of the moon

The party investigates Arrius' basement in search of Bardin, and they find him. The man is rather eccentric, and greatly enjoys that they call Redacted "Teddy"
Arrius has been threatening people, including , Taro, the son of Elder Katsuo, who was found dead in Natsu's old cell
Bardin is set free, the group helps him recover his possessions and see him sent back to The Wandering Tavern.
Taro's body is retrieved and given to a village guard

The party goes to talk to the Shippo Elders
It is clear the elders all have differing opinions of Arrius, but they were reliant on him for negotiations and war strategy.
Arrius took power by slaying Brannis, another Archfey on the Unseelie Court
The Shippo Elders were apparently unaware Arrius was affiliated with Lolth
Elder Akiko, the village medic and wise woman, has also been taking up some basic divination to try to fill the gaps Natsu and Arrius left behind. It is clear she is not entirely sure what she is doing.
Elder Kyoko, the diplomat, advocates surrendering in the war with The Prince of Fools, and Elder Katsuo, the military leader, is inclined to agree
The party convinces the elders not to surrender just yet, and set out to negotiate with The Prince of Fools themselves, and Elder Kyoko comes along

After some coaching from Elder Kyoko and strategy discussion, Hobbs leaps from the airship with Natsu on his back, landing directly in front of the traveling army. It does not take long for Hyrsam, The Prince of Fools to elbow himself to the front of his satyr army to begin negotiations.
Elder Kyoko, along with most of the party, bow down to him. Neither Natsu or Hobbs do so.
Introductions are made, and the party quickly asks what the war is about. The Prince of Fools says he wanted to kill Arrius because of Hobbs
According to Hyrsam, Hobbs' birth name was "Dwight", which is why he went by "D" in his Archfey days. Hyrsam also claims that he is Hobbs' father, and that he thought Arrius had killed him.
Hyrsam tries to convince various members of the party to stab one of his men, chosen at random. This seems like a jest, but high insight rolls on Elder Kyoko and the army and even The Prince of Fools himself reveal that the party is being tested
This "test" goes on for a very long time, but nobody in the party agrees to stab Hyrsam's soldier, nor Hyrsam himself. Eventually Hobbs summons a tiger from his bag of tricks, gives it a dagger, and has it stab Hyrsam for him. This, for some reason, seems to impress Hyrsam greatly.
Hobbs attempts to defuse hostilities by offering his father booze. He crits the ensuing persuasion check, but there is insufficient booze to sate the entire army and so Thaiva Phenol and Redacted set out to acquire more booze while the rest remain with the army.
