Personal history

Varin Thostar was born on one of the islands off the coast of Tsuchigakure in the year 219, on the 23rd day of the 9th month. His parents were a man from Tsuchigakure and a woman from the Nordic Isles who had made her home the island Varin was born on. She had been part of a norse sailing crew who happened to dock on the island and though many of them returned, some, including Varin's mother stayed on the land and lived there. Varin's father had been a simple, but high ranking shinobi of Tsuchigakure's military and upon meeting Varin's mother the two spent a night of passion together and within the year they met they were wed and Varin was born.   Varin's early life was a simple one and though it had its fair share of hardships he would look back upon it foundly. The comfort meals made with whatever could be used, the patches in the roof from which the rain would drip, the late nightsof helping his father keep the fire going or aiding him in his tasks of hunting, crafting and colecting materials for their ship they would often work on together. While he is well versed in the norse tales and stories from his mother's homeland, Varin grew up as a follower of the will of stone and has maintained those beliefs throughout his life.   Upon graduating from Tsuchigakure's academy, Varin would be assigned to a team of combat specialists and Varin's role would be as the tank or frontline fighter. His teammates would include his childhood friend, a girl who specialized in ranged combat, a beast user and his team lead who was a low ranking jonin looking for fame. They would spend a year taking on several highly dangerous missions and being forced to their limits constantly before they would first partake in the chunnin exams. Whenever the exams began the party would be among one of the first squads eliminated as the group was unable to find the proper testing ground, where the test had been one of deciphering a code and finding the location. Though the group would fail in their first trial at the exams they would push themselves by only accepting C-rank missions and higher for the next year so that they would be prepared for the next year's exams. In their second attempt at the exams, Varin and his team would dominate, Varin himself would win the exams to become a chunin at the age of 15 in the yer 234.   Upon becoming a chunnin Varin would take on his first disciple and bein training an academy rookie he had taken a liking to, though Varin would often be busy on missions or helping his family, he would aways look for time with his first student and would be the primary force responsible for the boys quick acceleration and graduation from the academy. While working on his missions however Varin would focus on taking down enemies of great detriment or danger to the world. He trusted only using his fists for his weapons but his team would insist that he learn basic ninjutsu skills to assist him. Though he was never talented in such techniques he would eventually learn a few abilities over his 3 year duration as a chunnin. His greatest accomplishment during this time is the completion of the ship his family had been building since his mother had first moved to the island, though they had only been able to put it together piece by piece over the many years, it was a great joy for the entire family who loved the boat.   In the year 237 when he was 18, Varin would be promoted to jonin when he single handedly dispatched a squadron of jonin that were invading his home island. The criminals would be captured and imprisoned for their actions and Varin's promotion would be celebrated by many. He has remained a jonin ever since and has taken to primarily leading young squads and individuals who need exra assisstance, as his missions have been primarily ones of great ease his strength has remained somewhat stagnant throughout the years. Though he has remained more than capable of rising to any challenge the village gave him. Throughout his tenure as a jonin Varin has been particularly fond of travelling on long journeys and seeing new sites with his different teams. He most often does this with the ship that had been built for his mother.   When the Shinobi United program asked for assisstance from Tsuchigakure, varin was among the first candidates discussed. Though he worked for the village he was very neutral and was an excellent teacher to young recruits, he had also remained to keep from any precious information within the stone village. When Varin joined the Shinobi alliance in the year 295, he became an instructor who advised recruits on how to adhere to the beliefs of the alliance and keep their abilities up to standard. He has recently been promoted to a team leader within the Shinobi United program as a way to try to assist the program and guide a unit of recruits entirely chosen from fresh recruits within the program itself.
