Originally conceived as temple grounds dedicated to the benevolent god of good dragonkind, Bahamut, Dragon's Rest evolved into a modest settlement. It serves as a haven for those who both revere Bahamut and seek refuge from the tumultuous lives they once led or have fallen victim to. This sanctuary extends its embrace to people hailing from the Sword Coast and all of Faerun. Presently, Dragon's Rest boasts a substantial temple, a lively tavern, a well-equipped kitchen, and a handful of residential houses expertly carved into the cliffs that cradle the settlement. Demographics
Dragon's Rest is primarily populated by kobolds, diminutive reptilian beings with a dragon-like appearance, diligently attending to the settlement's needs. History
After the events that unfolded in the 14th century DR, where Elder Runara thwarted the ambitious plans of the blue dragon Eldenemir, who sought to harness powers with devastating potential, Runara, with the assistance of the kobold inhabitants of the isle, established Dragon's Rest. Over the next century, the settlement flourished in tranquility, experiencing minimal conflict and evolving into a revered destination for pilgrims seeking serenity, greater wisdom, and guidance in their life's journey.
However, in the 15th century, specifically in the year 1459 DR, the descendant of Eldenemir, Sparkrender, endeavored to accomplish what his grandfather could not, placing Dragon's Rest in imminent danger of destruction. Fortunately, a fortuitous meeting of adventurers aboard a boat destined for Dragon's Rest culminated in the thwarting of Sparkrender's perilous plan, injecting renewed hope into the settlement.
In the same year, Elder Runara and the band of adventurers who united to prevent the settlement's potential demise assumed the responsibility of its governance. Their collective efforts are dedicated to maintaining Dragon's Rest as a safe haven and a beacon of wisdom. Concurrently, ongoing initiatives to expand Dragon's Rest are underway, aiming to provide increased opportunities for those who visit this cherished haven.
