Elder Runara
History & Personality
Elder Runara, a noble bronze dragon raised by her father Astalagan, embarked on a journey across the Sword Coast during her early years. Their intentions, aligned with their peaceful nature as bronze dragons, focused on resolving conflicts and lending assistance to oppressed populations. Together, Runara and her father defended against orc invasions that would've completely destroyed the minor towns and settlements outside Neverwinter and along the Sword Mountains. Runara and Astalgan would often find fulfillment and reward in such endeavors. In the 14th century, a greater calling summoned Runara and Astalagan to Stormwreck Isle, where a dire conflict unfolded with their chromatic dragon counterparts. Committed to their god Bahamut and a higher purpose, they intervened to prevent a devastating ritual that would impact all of Faerun. Tragically, during the final battle with Eldenmir, the chromatic dragons' leader, Astalagan fell to a fatal blow. Witnessing her father's demise, Runara, consumed by grief and rage, slew Eldenmir to thwart the ritual. Haunted by the events, Runara renounced violence, dedicating herself to aiding those shaped by violence to find paths toward peace. Her ultimate vision is the peaceful coexistence of chromatic and metallic dragons. To realize this vision, Runara, with the help of kobolds, established Dragon's Rest on Stormwreck Isle, serving as a haven aligned with her mission. A statue of her father would be built to honor her father's sacrafice. In the year 1459 DR, faced with the descendant Sparkrender attempting a destructive ritual, Runara confronted the difficult choice of resorting to violence to save the adventurers assisting Dragon's Rest. Despite sustaining injuries, she succeeded in rescuing the adventurers but grappled with guilt for betraying her nonviolent principles. Currently, Runara persists in her mission, leading Dragon's Rest alongside the adventurers who saved the isle. She navigates the complexities of her actions, learning to reconcile her commitment to peace with the harsh realities of protecting her newfound home.Relationships
