The catholic church’s interest was piqued by the discovery of the pyramid. The church was an integral part of the ‘civilization’ of Peru a few centuries ago, and the dioceses in Madrid and Valencia have many old religious items from that time period that they wish to recover. Fury’s cardinal was contacted, and Fury was selected from a handful of volunteers who have had ‘certain experiences’. His missions is to not just return any church artifacts among the items discovered, but report back regarding any validity to this hidden pyramid and its secrets. Old records from the missionaries that made it back to Spain have made the church both cautiously curious regarding this discovery, and Fury was told he may need to be strong in his faith if any of the old stories hold merit.
The church is helping fund the expedition with the condition that they be allowed to send a representative under the guise of providing spiritual guidance – both to the other members and any locals that have been unexposed to the faith.
