Session 6 Notes
Recorded January 13, 2024
General Summary
- The Doc decides to leave the weird face made of gold with Boris as we go off to the hospital. We don't really want to walk around with it in town.
- Cillian takes a cab across town to the Hotel España. There is a bit of miscommunication at the beginning, but the cabby is able to get him across town, and Cillian is able to clock the directions from one place to another.
- The building is in a poorer side of town. It is a stucco, two story building, that is painted multicolored. Seems a bit over the top and a bit touristy, a little more run down than the hotel we are staying at.
- There does not seem to be a permanent structure around to really hide and he isn't really able to see anything and has to readjust his approach.
- The group heading to the hospital decides to take the trolley over to the hospital so they can try and visit with the professor. (refer to Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo)
- As we approach the hospital we notice a liveried horse that is hitched out front that belongs to the police.
- The Doc sees that Jackson Elias is across the street, intently watching all directions.
- He is by himself, but he is clearly scanning the area.
- We make our way over to where he is, stepping off the trolley.
- Elias seems to relax a bit when he sees us and as we approach he moves over to a cafe and he tells us that the police are in speaking with the Professor.
- He says that a gruff police detective showed up and seemed annoyed that Elias was there. This detective introduced himself as Detective Cupitina.
- The Professor was awake when he left.
- We decide to wait until the police leave before we go in to visit the Professor.
- John decides to go over and try and check out the saddlebags on the police horse, he unlatches the saddle bag on one side and as he does the Doc notices at the very last possible second that there is a man smoking a cigarette who is walking up behind John. He is in a police uniform and walking up very slowly. He comes up behind John and speaks to him in Spanish.
- John tries respond, pretty much fails, and then tries to take off running. He is able to get away, but Detective Fortunato Cupitina does head off after him on horseback.
- This does, however, leave our path into the hospital open.
- We learned after the fact that the police detective asked John, "Are you retarded?"
- The characters do not know this.
- Jackson speaks with the staff and they are only going to allow two people back because his wife has arrived.
- The Doc and Elias go back to speak with him.
- As they approach the bed, they find the professor, Nemesio Sánchez, is sitting up in his bed.
- When the Professor's wife sees Elias she immediately gets up and starts talking to him.
- The Professor seems to be taking in the Doc's presence with a stoic disposition.
- The Doc asks him how he is feeling and he says he has definitely been better, but the events from yesterday seem very fuzzy.
- He says that he remembers us arriving at the museum, but he wishes that yesterday never happened.
- Doc checks the Professor's wound and finds that it appears to be well cared for, the wound is clean, and there does not appear to be any signs of infection. His facial wounds look much better as well.
- The professor said there was banging and yelling. Elias went to investigate and when Elias left another man came in, a European man, he thought he was with our group, but the man entered, grabbed him, kissed him, and then threw him on the ground.
- Looked like he was European, long dark hair. The doc thinks that it could have been Luis de Mendoza, but we are not sure.
- The Doc then asks the professor about his assistant, Ms. Trinidad Rizzo. He said that was why the detective was there. The professor told us that the Detective told him there was a murder investigation going on, but something also happened at the museum. They believe that Ms. Rizzo is missing.
- The Professor hands Doc the original letter, saying that he kept it from the police. (Crumpled Paper)
- The professor asked where we got the letter and the Doctor tells him about the Mummy in the storage room.
- What he says his assistant was wearing yesterday and it matches what the mummy was wearing.
- The doctor tries to keep the fact that he makes the association of the assistant and the mummy.
- He is very concerned about the Gold Bar and the issues in the museum. He believes the gold bar is connected to the mystery and there is something very wrong going on.
- He tells us that the Detective is heading to Trinidad's house and then to the museum to try and locate her.
- If we want to get to the Museo de Arqueolgía y Antropología before the detective, we need to get a move on.
- At Nigel's urging, the Doc goes back in and talks to the Professor about getting permission to go back down into the basement storage area.
- The professor give us his keys.
- This group decides to head back to the museum, using the trolley system.
- As we approach the hospital we notice a liveried horse that is hitched out front that belongs to the police.
- Back to Cillian, across town, Cillian is able to assemble a makeshift ladder using some boxes and crates an stuff to get onto the roof of a nearby building, to get an elevated view.
- At one point, a hand pushes against the french doors and he sees Augustus Larkin's face briefly. Larkin is on the second story that faces the street. He is there. Cillian watches all day, and this is all he sees.
- We pick John up, running down the street. He runs about two blocks and he looks behind him and he does not immediately see someone chasing him.
- He sees a church, with people going inside, so he tries to blend into the crowd of people heading in.
- He comes face to face with Father Fury who is there greeting parishioners.
- John hides in the bathroom of the church.
- Back with the museum crew, we unlocked the front doors, and are standing at the foyer, doors open.
- Mickey hears someone whistling and hears someone walking.
- Albert sneaks forward to see if he can see where the guard went.
- We try to make our way stealthily toward the basement stairs.
- We have noticed that the whistling has stopped, but the Doctor hears soft footsteps.
- We are able to get into the door to the basement and freeze. We hear the whistling start up again and then move away.
- We head into the basement, its dark, but thankfully the doctor has an electric torch.
- We make our way back to the stacks, looking for the scene where the mummified woman is. The scene looks the same, as if no one has been down here.
- We start looking around to try and find any other clues. We go over the fact that we already checked the satchel and found it suspiciously empty. As if there was something inside that is now gone.
- The doc inspects the body again and does not have much luck learning much new, however, he does see that the chest wound is definitely an exit wound and there is no moisture around the wound like there was yesterday.
- Nigel looks around the body and other than the fact the skin on the Gold Bar is dried up and flaking off, it does keep our attention.
- Nigel and the Doctor start talking about whether they should move the body, and Mickey just comes over and rolls her over. There is nothing below.
- Albert uses the stachel to pick up the gold bar while Mickey looks for something to wrap the bar up in to get it out of the museum.
- Albert rummages through the rest of the crate and finds that its empty save the bar.
- Mickey wraps the bar up and then ties it up and closed so that none of the told is exposed.
- Albert repositions the crate and seals it closed, making it look like it had not been touched.
- We switch back to John and he blends in with the crowd to attend mass. It seems that he has evaded the police and he will try and leave the church quickly at the end of mass.
- He is able to get out of the church and he is tries to get back toward the hotel.
- We head back to Boris who can't help, but look at the gold piece. He thinks there is some sort of toxin on the Strange Face so he wears gloves, but he does look at the piece.
- He looks the object over, but nothing happens. He believes that there is some sort of significance with it, because it is a mask, from an occult perspective.
- We head back to team museum as they try to get out without being detected.
- Albert tries to lead the group out.
- We make it to the front door just as the police begin banging on the front door.
- We hear someone, from just to our right, tell them to wait a moment.
- We are pinned between the police and the probably a security guard.
- We ended the session there.
