Session 13 Notes
Recorded June 15, 2024
General Summary
- We pick up the session with the crew in the subterranean tunnels.
- Jackson Elias rushes forward to try and help Mickey. He clubs Mickey over the back of the head to try and knock him out because he is acting crazy.
- He is successful and knocking Mickey out and as he does so he sees the giant maggot.
- He isn't handling that very well, he rears back and cracks his head on the low ceiling.
- Cillian dives forward and grabs at the Peruvian Larvae trying to rip it off of Mickey. He does get a hand on it, but it wriggles out of his grasp.
- The larva crawls up Mickey's face and starts trying to crawl underneath the face covering he is wearing.
- Jackson also jumps in and tries to help remove the larva.
- Cillian reaches out snatches the thing up and squeezes it and takes a step away from Mickey.
- Albert comes out of his bout of madness and his laughter dies away.
- He looks over and sees Cillian struggling with the larva and Albert drops his rifle, pulls his knife, grabs onto Cillian's arms to hold them stead, and (rolling a critical) he slices the top of it off, removing its head and mouth. The larva just deflates into a pile of goo on Cillian's gloves.
- Cillian, Jackson, and Albert all tend to Mickey and we are able to rouse him.
- Jackson Elias rushes forward to try and help Mickey. He clubs Mickey over the back of the head to try and knock him out because he is acting crazy.
- We start moving through the halls and we see another chute, it corresponds with another capstone.
- The metal bar we saw at the beginning, the golden bar, runs the entire length of the wall.
- Shifting focus back to the surface, those characters start to react to the gunshot that they heard. Father Fury descends from the pyramid.
- There is a brief interchange where Cillian tells the surface crew that we are ok, but there was an incident.
- Back to the tunnel delvers we continue moving through the corridors.
- We round a bend to the east and find the the ground is covered with some sort of viscous white fluid all over the ground.
- There is also a large gap in the metal bar, there is a piece missing. The ends are bent out as if something has ripped that section of the bar out. There is a crack running up the wall where the metal bar is missing and the white substance that now covers the floor is seeping through the crack.
- We get the impression that the space the crack leads into would be close to being directly under the pyramid. Perhaps this space would be the same space that Floyd looked into and became so affected.
- Albert looks closely and sees that there is something moving under the surface of the pool. That also seems to indicate that the pool is deeper than it appears to be.
- We decide to clear the rest of the tunnels, then head up and talk to the rest of the group about what we think we should do from here.
- At the eastern end of the top hallway we see flickering torch light. Albert sneaks forward to see what is around the corner.
- He sees a small room with three reed mats on the ground. There is a single torch, jammed into the floor, on the other side of the torch is a pile of artifacts, coins jewelry, watches, and some shiny junk.
- Albert glances around the room to make sure there are no threats. The ceiling in this room is a bit higher, there is no inlaid gold bar on the wall, but there does not see anything else that indicates someone stays here except for the reed sleeping mats.
- Mickey believes he can use some of this gold, maybe melt it down, to be used to help repair the broken metal bar.
- Albert moves forward toward a brighter source of natural light. He investigates and finds it ascends up to the point where it empties out into the charnal pit
- We decide to head back up at this point.
- We relay all the information we found to the tunnels.
- Jon starts a fire to provide some warmth and a maybe some relief from the flies.
- Cillian goes on overwatch against the Kharisiri.
- Nigel pours over the story from the conquistador to see if there are any clues to what we need to do, but doesn't find any.
- We all then just work on getting supplies for the gold bar repair.
- Once set, Mickey, Cillian, Father Fury, Jackson, and Albert head back down:
- We are able to create a raft and we push it into and then across the pool trying to bridge the gap.
- Mickey treks out to check out the damage. He finds the ends still in the wall are bent out, but he does come up with a good plan and process for making the repair.
- Mickey gets a little too close to the wall and the viscous fluid goes up in smoke. It is apparently extremely flammable.
- It fills the hallway with a black acrid smoke.
- We are able to withstand the smoke and after about 30 minutes the smoke begins to clear.
- When we come back we found the pool is gone, all the fluid burned away.
- We collect some gold to smelt and Mickey begins the repair and is ultimately able to re-install the broken piece.
- Topside, the crew is just waiting. Jon sees two individuals, as well as Luis de Mendoza. Mendoza sees us and as he rushes toward us and as he does his face splits, his jaw spreading apart like mandibles, a large round sucker like mouth surrounded by fangs and sharp teeth.
- Several more people are scaling the walls. Their faces are also starting to transform.
- As Mendoza gets closer to us, he begins to rapidly age, he collapses, his skin turns to paper and he begins to blow away in the wind, his body completely disappearing into dust.
- The same thing happened to the creatures that jumped over the wall.
- We decide to leave the mask (Strange Face) behind with the pile of other gold.
- We bury Augustus Larkin and Father Fury does last rights over him.
- We then push and get the mules down from the plateau and make camp.
- The night is uneventful, our sleep is dreamless.
- We push decide to make our way back to Puno.
- We ended the session with the wrap up for completing the prologue.

Session 13:
Old Fears Run Deep
It is absoulutely ncecessary, for the peace and safety of mankind, that some of earth's dark, dead croners and unplumbed depths be let alone; lest sleeping abnormalities wake to resurgent life, and blashpehmously surviving nightmares squirm and splash out of their black lairs to newer and wider conquests.~H.
