Strange Face
This appears to be a mask, approximately a handspan square. It depicts a stylized face, largely made up of blocky geometrical shapes raised from the surface and is solid, with no eyeholes. There are four small holes spaced around the edges.
The back of the mask is unadorned and polished to a high sheen, allowing it to be used as a mirror.
Based on the weight the mask is certainly made of gold.
History
The mask resembles Tiwanaku design. (also see Larkin's Pendant0
This unusual object was found by laying on the street by the good doctor, Floyd Musgrove.
The investigators left the mask behind at the ruins in the Peruvian Highlands by placing it in the pile of scavenging treasures hidden in the underground tunnels beneath the Peruvian Pyramid.
Significance
The finding of this supposed mask coincided with the flight of Luis de Mendoza during a chase. The mask was seen on the ground near the open rear doors of an ambulance only moments after de Mendoza fled the vehicle.
While examing the object, Nigel Hudson Wallace Farnsworthy IV experienced a strange vision. Luckily he was in good company when this happened and suffered mostly from the shock of the experience.
Later, alone at the Hotel Maury, Boris Mitkov attempted his own examination of the face in his room. He unexpected experienced strange visions of his own. He was found holding his head underwater in a bath tub while staring at the reverse side of the trinket. If not for the timely intervention of Reinhardt Fury he may have drowned.
