Jandi is the mother of Alma Halfhill, the unfortunate victim at the center of Bergatha's evil plot in Ardrest. After the Frostyear Guardians rescued Alma at High Perch, Jandi offered to give them her farm as reward. They turned it down, but soon found themselves owers of a tower fortress, where Jandi sees to all sorts of domestic needs.

At 21 and unwed, Jandi thought herself lucky to have caught the eye of the very eligible Rosco Halfhill, she married him within the year, but all of her luck quickly turned sour. Despite multiple years of attempts and Jandi's fervent prayers to Eo, the couple were still childless. In desperation, Jandi sought out a mysterious old medicine woman who lived in the nearby woods. The ritual that had to be preformed turned Jandi's stomach, but her daughter, Alma was born shortly before the onset of winter 1490. The couple's happiness was short-lived, as Rosco took ill from the winter cold, and despite the best attempts of the town's healers succumbed to his illness. Alma became Jandi's entire world, and young mother ignored the needs of the small farm to nurse her infant.
Then further tragedy struck, for the old woman in the woods was none other than the hag, Bergatha in disguise. Jandi's deal had already cost her husband's life, and on the night of the 6th of Ches, 1491, while a group of goblins attacked the town proper, Bergatha spirited the child away to be part of the Hag Ritual. It was only the direct intercession of Ardrest's local heroes that thwarted the hag and saved Jandi and her infant daughter.
Jandi would go on to serve the Guardians as the housekeeper for their newly risen tower at Hagsfall.
