The Man from Kaupang
A meta-plot corrective story - Emma hasn't been played right, her actions don't match her personality. The in-story reason is simple: the God-Machine is effecting a change in her timeline. If she's distrustful and breaks off contact with her family, will events change?
The cause is a Trumpet whispering to her in her sleep. The solution is simple: The Man From Kaupang. A Demon, in-cover, who offers to teach her a measure of resistance to the nightmares she's dealing with if her father agrees to hire a boy from the village who had always been sickly and weak. The Demon arranges the Deal, and vanishes into a crowd.
