Kanénas
Kanénas was born to a priestess of Deneir and his scoundrel of a father. The two were in love but unfortunately his mother passed when he was very young leaving him to be raised by his father. It was shortly after this that he discovered that he had the power to temporarily to comprehend any language. He eventually grew up and started to work as a local adventurer. Hunting down criminals for whoever paid. He then took a job that took him out of Neverwinter. A job to back up six adventurers in the town of Phandalin.
BACKSTORY
Kanénas Ulysses was born to a priestess of Denier and his scoundrel of a father. The two were in love but unfortunately his mother passed when he was very young leaving him to be raised by his father. It was shortly after this that he discovered that his mother had somehow blessed him with a small fragment of her power.
As young urchin he would steal for his debt ridden father. Till one day he was caught by an guard, Alister. This guard knew his mother as both were followers of Denier and took him to the library where they met an Owlin Cleric/head librarian Estmous Dullroost (Esty). Together they taught him how to fight and how to think. He eventually grew up and started to work as a local adventurer. He spent his time hunting down criminals for whoever paid. But he eventually decided he wanted to continue his studies. He wanted to at least visit the famous Candlekeep once. But to enter he must have a new book to add to their collection. So he decided to write his own. He soon heard about some commotion outside of Neverwinter involving a White dragon; Everyone loves tales about dragon slaying. So he took the first job that took him out of Neverwinter and towards Phandalin. A job to back up six adventurers.
There is a Celestial, Candor...
During a specific writing/reading/Recital, Kanenas unknowngly and accidentally spoke the true name of this Celestial and invoked his true power. Candor received and accepted the pact....actually out of sheer panic. No one had done this with him before, and wanted very much to "do the right thing" for Deneir and the cause. So he granted some power, and things were kind of going OK. Then this knight doubled down on the pact...
Well Candor was in for penny already, so in for a pound, but things were getting out of control. This guy was etching runes and calling upon them to grow in size and strength. Oh dear, what would Deneir think? Well, maybe this fool would get himself killed before it mattered...
But he didn't. He just kept at it, and didn't die.
OK...maybe it's time for some damage control. There is a pact, right? We can compel him to do our will, correct?
OK, time to send Tilde to deliver some requirements...

The Good, the bad, The Hans, and The Franz.
Dear Diary
This has been a terrible F***ing day. I am currently holed up with the rest of the crew in Uluran Mortis’s bedroom writing this. So lets start with the good news. We have the bloody Ruinstone. It is tucked safely away in my bag of holding. Bad news I fell unconscious three times in less then 30 seconds and Ezra had to pop me back up. I am pretty sure I have a minor concussion. More good news. I found the best (obviously not counting the supreme awesomeness that is Kalomos) magic item ever! The Eyes of minute seeing. I can find anything with these glasses! They're like a telescope but way better! But now back to bad news We still have to face a Dracolitch possessing an ancient Green Dragon. But hey at least there aren’t any other monsters that we have to face so we can go in with our full kit of powers. So while not a piece of cake. We should be able to do it.
Also I cannot forget to mention the brave sacrifice of Hans. He will be remembered and missed. After we are done with this mission I will have to talk to the town about setting up a nice memorial and of course giving his share to his wife and child. But on better news that no good cheating, drunken scoundrel, and wretch Franz has departed this world. If I were to name how he has plighted me and my companions at every turn then I would be writing here all night. But While he may not be missed I will say I didn't want the cowardly ass to die in such a horrific way. And next to the noble Hans as well. It is quite a shame.
P.S. When I get a moment I want to see if Anea can lose the Ruinstone in her personal pocket dimension.

The High of Victory
There he was. Uluran Mortis. In truth outside of an existential hate for him and his works serving his undead god I never personally hated him. But here he was carelessly holding my friend's life in his grubby mit. And in that moment I learned to hate him as much as I did Ferali Stormsworn. So I did the only thing I could. I rushed the old necromancer. His minion’s attacks bounced off my reworked armor.
As I ran I let the Power of Candor Flow into me and I grew. The old man thought my purpose was to attack him. He was sorely mistaken. With a deft movement I knocked the Ruinstone out of his hand and caught it. Then whirling around as I took a step back I tried to toss Zith the ruin stone but I hadn’t realized Ozus had summoned a shield spell. So the stone bounced off the shield , to Ezra’s helmet. Till it landed on the ground next to Zith. The ruinstone an object that had the power to damage the holy metatext was now in the hands of it’s true guardian. I spun Around and flourished Kalomos at all the enemies near me before I took the dagger and stabbed Uluran through the heart. I had done it. Almost single handedly I had defeated one of the three largest threats to the Sword Coast.
Then it appeared. Some sort of Demon. I was high off my victory and then…
Free Swimming
The water of the bog was so murky that it even affected my vision. Here I was almost as naked as the day I was born. All I had was a ring clutched in my hand, Kalmos, and a new gift. A smile played on my lip as I remembered Zith’s comment. He was proud that I had gotten over my fear of the water. In truth I don’t hear comments very often. Especially not from one of the people I consider one of my best friends. Diving naked through the water was not much. I flashed back to my last fight with Feraligh and how she tried to drown me. How I panicked and how I wasn’t able to move. Paralyzed and drowning. The fact that I almost died wasn’t what terrified me. It was the helplessness I felt of being unable to even struggle. I had never felt so weak in my life.
Then I remembered the shame I felt as Ezra was compelled to try and drown himself. I had a panic attack and I wasn’t able to do anything. I was helpless once again. But everything changed in old Gnawbones layer. A lake of acid separated my friends and I from life and a horrible death. And I made my decision. I would rather face my terror than let my friends die. So I took them on my back and ran across the deadly lake. Now here I was with a new tool: a necklace of water breathing; a gift from the bravest person I know. I will die before I let anyone use the Ruin stone, I will not let Zith be erased from the Metatext!

Choices
Rage filled me as I looked at Ferali Stormsworn. I know in my heart that if I killed her here and now that so many problems could be dealt with right here and now. I could avenge Torgans village. I could stop Talos’s plans in their tracks. I know Zith and the new guy feel the same way about the necromancer Ularan Mortis. But there is an undead dragon; Ebondeath, trying to steal the ruin stone. He? She? They are the biggest threat on this battlefield. And we have to fight them or they will destroy this town.
But I am so tired. We have fought not one. Not two. But three different hoards enemies on this battlefield. The undead and the servants of the storm lord. When I went to draw on the pool of power given to me by candor I felt nothing. My ability to regenerate myself and others has run dry. The others aren't looking so good either but what else can we do Surrender? No! I remember Candor's test making me fight an illusionary grownup as a week child. I lost so many times there and I guess I still haven't learned my lesson. I will fight I will make sure that undead asshole of a dragon does not get his hands on the Ruinstone. No matter the cost.
Hold the gate!
The thought of Everdeath still haunts you. That dark parody of your birth place. But now you are in a place that is like a second home to you, Leilon. You're back to the gate to stop the horde of cultits of the destructive god Talos from entering.
Slam.
They ram the gate again. All you can do is wait for the inevitable and delay it as long as possible. This is not the fate you dreamed of when you headed to Phandalin to hunt a white dragon. But here you are.You force your back straight and your feet dig into the earth. You are larger than you have ever been before. Each blow and spell is even more powerful. But you hold the gate. You feel the inherent burst of strength from your runes waning.
Crack.
The gate cracks but you still hold it. Zith. Brave Zith holding his own against a boneclaw. Why did you let him anywhere near the battle? No. You will hold the Gate. You trust your friends. You have to hold on and believe in them. But once the gate breaks then you can show the world what a Rune Knight of Denier can do. But even if it kills you. YOU WILL HOLD THE GATE!
Distorted city
The despair and the longing to see my home again was overwhelming. At each turn this place made that pain sharper. The others didn’t understand. This place; Evernight, was a mockery. This land was a funhouse mirror distorting everything I loved about my city; Neverwinter. Then I entered the tomb. It is a place full of memories of those like me. The family here had the same desire I do to see our shared homeland. Neverwinter was never perfect but it is Home. And here I am, facing the insane woman who just wants to go home. But I know that she can never return. I will set her and her family free from their torment. I will free them from this mockery of a city. Maybe then they will no longer be alone. The fight begins and she attacks Priest Eldon. I understand in a moment that if her attack struck him he would die. I decided in a moment to save my brother in faith. Suddenly reality stretches and bends in strange ways. The clouds have something written in them. Before I can comprehend what I am seeing I am before the lady of the house. I will set her free.
A visit to Mother's grave.
Outside the entrance to the poppers' field of the Neverdeath graveyard, Kanenas paused, casting a glance at the others before informing them he'd catch up in a few moments, expressing the need to visit someone first. As he diverged from the party, Kanenas, clutching a bouquet of flowers he had purchased, made his way to the grave of his mother, Sarah. There, a simple wooden tombstone, hardened by magic to withstand the elements, bore the outline of the Denier symbol above the inscription.
A silent voice,
And a loud pen.
A simple message for a simple woman. Looking down, Kanenas saw that there was another bouquet at the foot of her tombstone, the flowers withered. His father had been here recently. Kanenas sighed. He placed the fresh flowers on the grave.
“Hey mom, long time no see. I'm sorry it's been a while since my last visit but things have been crazy since I left. I have some friends waiting for me outside; we're going to fight this weird undeath cult,... I think. But I just wanted to take the opportunity to visit you before we went on our latest dangerous mission. I’ll introduce them next time I come bye. I have so much to tell you. So many crazy things have happened since I left for Phandalin; I wish I had the time to tell you. But I just wanted to come by and say that I love you and I miss you every day. That I am trying to be a man you would be proud of.”
Emotion threatened to overwhelm the Rune Knight, but he steadied himself, rising to his feet and casting one last glance at the tombstone before walking away to rejoin his companions.

A Vow
Dear Kanenas
I am being recalled to Candor for a several week period to participate in a performance review of your activities and as such I will be unavailable for summons during this period. I promise that I will give an unbiased review of your performance as a warlock during this time period.
Sincerely, Your familiar
Anea
That was how all of this began. Anea was taking a temporary leave of absence. Which was fine, The Storm Breakers and I had decided to take a rest from our questing for the next few weeks. I helped Zith train on how to use a shield. We dealt with some minor issues and I unsuccessfully looked for a magic item. But then we heard there were new quests on the boards and we went to see what they had. I met an old acquaintance and we took what looked like a simple one helping that Bastard Galieo! Now Zith has damn Soul bound to a fucking rock. Literally called the ruin stone.
I never realized how brave the rascal was. While the rest of us stood around like cowards he was brave enough to risk it all. … I need to speak to Candor. He has to know some way to… at least preserve my memory. I will not let Zith die. I will find a way to fix this. I swear it.
Celestial Warlock Report
To the Illustrious Word Archon, Custodian of Denier's Prose and Keeper of the Eternal Library,
I, Anea, lesser Celestial Spirit bound in service, do hereby submit this report concerning our Contracted Warlock, Kanenas Ulysses son. As recognized by the esteemed Lord Candor, the Great Librarian and Guardian of Eternal Truths, it is imperative to provide a comprehensive overview of Kanenas's endeavors and allegiances.
Throughout his recent ventures, Kanenas has engaged in combat with a multitude of adversaries following his resurrection. Among his adversaries stand various manifestations of Undeath, fiends, and acolytes devoted to the antagonist Talos, the Storm Lord. Notably, amidst conflicts with the servants of our divine enemy, I have observed a fervor and single mindedness akin to your own esteemed passion and the divine zeal of our venerable Lord Denier imbued within him. I have noticed during his fights with the Storm Lord’s servants that a rage resembling yours is manifest. I believe that the ethereal connection with yourself is influencing him physically and mentally.
Kanenas has used the power and knowledge that you have granted his wisely and for the sole purpose of defeating our enemies. Yet, it must be acknowledged that Kanenas exhibits certain shortcomings, such as a tendency to succumb to incapacitation in the midst of battle, relying upon his allies for resuscitation. Despite these flaws, his commitment to our sacred cause remains unwavering. Therefore, it is my recommendation, as articulated within this missive, that in order to fortify his defense and safeguard both himself and his companions, the bestowal of the Wings of Knowledge upon him would be a judicious course of action.
May this counsel serve to guide our actions in accordance with the grand design of Denier's Will.
With the utmost deference and obeisance,
Anea, in servitude and reverence.
Hunger and names
Kanenas watched the sea and all the ships sailing into the port. He wandered where they were coming from where they would go. For a moment he dreamed of going on one and sailing up the coast he would have a colorful parrot on his shoulder, and he would have a cool sword at his side as he sailed the open sea and then… Grrugl.
Damn he was hungry. The smell of warm bread made his mouth water the baker Thompson as selling his meet buns. For a moment the thought of just going over there taking one and running crosses his mind. But Pa said he would be back with plenty of money. Kanenas sighed, pushing the enticing thought of warm bread aside. He turned his gaze from the bustling port to the narrow, cobbled streets of the town. The sun was beginning its descent, casting a golden glow over the whitewashed buildings.
As he made his way through the town square, he could not shake the gnawing hunger in his stomach. His father had promised to be back with money soon, but Kanenas knew better than to trust those words. Pa's promises were as fleeting as the tide.
Passing by the town's inn, Kanenas noticed a group of sailors laughing and drinking. The smell of ale wafted through the air, mixing with the salty scent of the sea. He envied their freedom, their carefree lives on the open water. He tried to distract himself again with the thoughts of high sea adventures. The bird what would he name her. It suddenly came to him he would name it after the book his mom always read to him. The one filled with the tales of heroes and monsters; what was the book called again? Adia? Aeneid? The Anea! That was it.
Lost in his thoughts, Kanenas almost didn't notice the familiar figure stumbling out of the inn. It was Pa, his eyes bloodshot, his clothes disheveled. Kanenas's heart sank. Another relapse.
Pa spotted him and lurched forward, a wild gleam in his eyes. "Kanenas, my boy, I've got it this time. I've got the winning hand, just you wait and see." His words slurred together, barely coherent. he held a bag of takeout from the bar he had just left. It didn't smell great but he was hungry.
Kanenas knew better than to argue. He followed Pa home, the weight of the world heavy on his young shoulders. The dream of sailing away on a ship seemed farther than ever.

Poisoned Treasure
Begin writing your story here...Rolling his eyes kanenas gets ready to place the last statue. He doesn’t understand why you would make such an obvious puzzle. Mind you without Ezra he probably would be dead from at least one of the exploding statue, and if you got this far by killing a dragon then you would probably be low on health and magic. That actually makes sense. This is less of a puzzle and more of a last F you from Old gnawbone. It definitely would have killed Someone as fragile as Zith.
But then you look at all that treasure. Old Gnawbone is possessed and you guys are probably going to have to kill her or die trying next time you see her anyway. Besides She literally threatened to destroy all of Leilon because you tried to warn her about what literally just happened to her. So you don’t feel sorry from reclaiming what you can only guess is stolen treasure.
You imagine it with this much treasure Zith can learn so many spells. Maybe after he becomes a great wizard he can stop stealing shit. Ozus can finally build that temple to Casuth he is always talking about. And Ezra… you aren’t sure what he would do with the gold but you know it will be something good. And then the town With this much money you can buy more soldiers, build stronger walls. Things will be great.
The next statue clicks into place. You flinch ready for it to explode. But it doesn’t. you did it finna… A toxic wind rushes out. Your throat is burning. The new rune around your neck is glowing a bright green. Oh gods Anea you lost your connection to her. What about the others? Are they alright. Damnations Your throat is burning so bad. so is your skin. You have to make it to the others. You will not fail your friends again. Not because of another one of your stupid mistakes.
Fear and cliffs
I am exhausted. That overwhelming feeling fear that was driving my actions has gone. I still feel the phantom tongue of Anea on my ear. I truly don’t know what I would do without her. I am running I hear the shouts of my remaining companions above me. By Deniers beard I pray that I am not to late. I have lost so many through this journey. No stay focused. Move. Move. Don’t Stop. I see Zith and the enemy. I DON’T WANT TO DROWN AGAIN! He is about to Stab Zith. I let the Divine Rune flow from me and then pain and darkness. Zith is he safe. Where is the enemy! I can’t see! I can't see! As the panic begins to overwhelm me again I feel a soft touch clear my sight. I can see. I can see him. I WILL NOT DROWN AGAIN! I attempt to grab him. He dodges but on my second attempt to catch him I do. I feel a cold calm all roll over me as I hold this heretic over the cliff. I decided to tell him a truth before he died. “Everything you have ever written every tattoo you have put upon your body has all been in the service of my god; Denier. But I don’t think your services will be required any longer.” I saw the look of anger spread across his face. And I simply let him go as he fell to his demise.

I did not know him well but the death of Luthias haunts me. Part of me craves to go up the mountain with Jareth and Kalli and spend some time in the cold and quiet. But then the memory of Talos's words about how Denier was a week god makes my blood boil. I know this rage is irrational but it keeps me going. Recently I feel as if Nesbit and Jax are growing distant especially since Nesbits death and resurrection. I don't know what I should do as a leader. Candor Refuses to heed my call, to assist me. Tildy is as quiet as an untouched book. What should I do? Oh Denier guide me!

Case File #15
A strange man who was wanted for petty theft, but also for escaping prison six times this tenday was requested by the adventurers Guild to be captured and permanently detained. After I took up the request from the guild I went to interview one of the prison guards about the situation. I decided to look up Alex clearwater an old friend of mine from basic. He told an interesting story. He said that four sets of guards had caught the prisoner separately and each in turn had locked the man up. But the moment they turned their backs on him he was gone leaving behind only the smell of fresh mulch. After learning this I went up to the HOK to look up information about teleportation. By all reports this mystery thief, whose name I learned was John Le bone, was as non magical as they came. But all the signs pointed in just that direction. While looking up the signs I found interesting information on fairies. This seemed like our dear friend John had somehow roped a faerie into working for him. I waited a week for the next time John was captured. I instructed the guards to not let him out of their sites till I gave the signal. I set a fairy trap of cream inside a cold iron crate. While the fairy waited for his masters sign he became entranced by my trap. Once inside I closed the cage door trapping it inside. I then signaled the guards to leave Le Bone alone. Within moments he was calling out the fairies name, Littlewick. With that information it was simple enough to force the creature into a deal where he would leave his new “toy” to rot in prison.
Choices
Kanenas was slopping the mud, as SGT. Alister; his friend and mentor, yelled profanity at him and the other new recruits. This was his last day of training with the winter shields, as well as his last day to decide whether he wanted to join the guard or not. Kanenas made his way from running through the mud to the end of the course. After all of the trainees had cleaned up Alister gave the trainees a speech. “Today is your last day of training before you swear an oath towards this city, the gods, and yourself. Once you make that oath you will be responsible for keeping the inhabitants of Neverwinter safe from the many threats that she faces. Now get going so you can be up bright and early for tomorrow.” Kanenas listened to this speech and knew what his decision was. He wanted to serve this place and help its people.
Later that night Kanenas, still wearing his training uniform, had just split off from his fellow trainees after a night of drinking. He was heading back from the tavern, to the row house he lived in. He was imagining what it would be like to be one of the Wintershield watchmen Protecting his city. Getting out of the room he shared with three other people. As he imagined this he heard the sounds of fist against flesh and a voice calling for help. Kanenas grabbed his two swords and saw a man beating a woman. He flashed back to a similar scene in his past. He saw the man's uniform; he was a part of the Neverwinter guard; one of the Mintarn Mercenaries. He yelled “Hey you sphincter let the lady go and pick on someone your own size.”
The mintarn turned around showing Kanenas his ugly mug. “What did you call me brat?” he said
“I sorry I didn’t realize you were obtuse as well as ugly.” The mocking tone infuriating the mercenary.
The man walked up to Kanenas and took a swing at him. Kanenas Doged and tripped up the man and knocked him to the floor. Kanenas put a sword to the man's neck and said leave and never bother this lady again you piece of scum.”
“Who do you think you are, street rat” the mercenary growled.
“Me, I am No One.” Kanenas took his sword and nicked the man's neck.
The man left the ally after that, Kanenas helped up the woman and escorted her home. The next day Kanenas was shaken awake by one of his roommates. He found Alister at the door. Kanenas was informed that the man he beat up last night was the son of the head of the Mintarn Mercenaries. “That Craven Miscreant apparently ran back to daddy and told him the whole sob story. I’m Sorry Kanenas, my hands are tied. They are using their political connections to prevent you from joining the Wintershield.” Kanenas felt crestfallen but Alister took his shoulder. “Look Kanenas there are other ways you can use your skills to help people. Lord Neverember is always advertising how we need more adventurers. You could join the adventurers guild and become an Urban Bounty Hunter.”
And that is what Kanenas did.
"κεραυνός" (Booming Blade)
I am in the Sewers. I was hired by the adventurers guild to go into the sewers and investigate reports of a nest of giant rats attacking sanitation workers. I hate these jobs their dirty, messy, and honestly not all that interesting. my mind can't help but wonder to that official notice I saw when I was leaving the guild. It said that adventurers where needed to help protect a small town called Phandalin from a white dragon. Suddenly one of my team mates quietly tells me to stop. He heard something. From the darkness, beyond the edge of the torch light we see them 4 pairs of glowing red eyes. The Giants rats were on top of us. I started cutting through them. one bit me from behind. a second one clawed at my side drawing blood while I was distracted by the first. I was surrounded. then I heard a small voice in my head say speak the word. So I did. I don't know how I knew but it worked. In celestial I said "κεραυνός" [booming blade] and suddenly the giant rat I hit was surrounded in thunderous waves. and when it moved the energy sparked and the rat died. I turned on the other one and repeated the process killing it. My three coworkers had killed the other two a moment later. I looked at my scimitars and I was in awe. I had used magic, I had had bent a small portion of the world to my whim? But how?
Note to Zith
Dear Zith I am leaving you this note because it has been three months and you still haven't showed up. Toblen (the bar keep) is the guy handing you the note. I have left Phandalin with some new friends. We are Heading to Leonin; If you are interested in some fresh business opportunities come and meet me there.
From Your friend,
Kanenas

Master Deponymous,
As always, I find your Whimsical banter exhilarating. But, you know that I am not enamored with the square footage I am serried into for the completion of my duties.
My apologies for the tardiness of your return letter, for as you can imagine the space I am shoehorned into is prone to disorder. I fear I had lost your letter permanently in the bulwark upon my desk.
Were I to not know you as well as I do, and Trust the veracity of your report, I would find it difficult to believe your story of the green dragon. And then, in the same breath you expound upon adding yet another defeat of a dragon to your curriculum vitae.
Indeed, news of this Phandelver pact has reached our humble shrine, for scrutiny. Now that I know your colleagues are involved in the matter I shall extend every effort to complete the research into its validity or its falsness.
There are some subtle Whispers that Lord Neverember may have overextended his reach in awarding an estate to your colleague. Perhaps this is some political Intrigue to take advantage of the fact that many records were lost during the eruption of the mountain but your counter claim is also noted and will be investigated post haste.
I must admit that I am intrigued and wait with bated breath for more details of these new abilities of which you write. Glyphs and runes you say? I shall also see what I can learn on these sorts of things.
Pax Vobiscum,

Kanenas remembers 1
After the events of the Moon festival Kanenas is in a drunken stupor. Torgan having told them that he is leaving the group to go and retire, make Kanenas think about home. He remembers the day after Alister had caught him picking some poor saps pockets.
"Well Kanenas, you really are trying to earn that name of yours aren't you." Kanenas looked up as the Wintershield Watchmen who had caught him. "What do you no about my name." Kanenas growled at the man. The man with an outwardly calm demeanor responded. "I know it is a name that any one who knows a thing about the power of a name would be envious of." The man's tone lowers slightly but also becomes more intense and controlled. "I know that it is a name that was given to you by a woman who knew the value of such a name."
Kanenas stops his struggling against the Wintershield, his mind flashing back to his mother who had told him that the name No One was a protection against those with power. His voice going horse asks, "How do you know that?" The Man smiles at him; though looking back he knows their was sadness in that smile. he responds "Maybe I will tell you that some day. But! first things first you need to be punished for stealing, but because I am such a wise and generous man I will give you a choice either pay with some time in the stocks and have a judge decide what we should do with you. Or. You could help with the construction project at the house of knowledge." Kanenas thinks about running but the man has a tight grip on his arm. "Fine I will help rebuild the stupid temple." The man smiles. "I knew you were a smart kid."
Tired from this interaction Kanenas ask. "So Mr. Know it all what is your name."
"My name, it's Alister, and maybe if you are smart you can find out what it means."
Moon festival story
when I was a young child my mother was sick this is the tale of her dream and how she inspired me. My mother sarah (Daughter of Fos the book maker) was a priest of Denier who worked in the house of knowledge. She was an Aspirant Priest. by the time I was born. But around when I was 8 She began to get sick and she just couldn’t get better. About two months before she died she sat me down and took out an atlas of Faerûn. And she began to tell me stories about all the places she and I would travel to after she got better. She showed me the route she planned to take and told me about all the places we would visit. She told me tales about Waterdeep and the vast dungeon beneath it. She told me tales about Baldur’s gate and it’s hidden treasures. But most importantly she shared with me her dream that one day the three of us would sail to Candlekeep and explore its library. How she would find some ancient tome. And it would lead us on a grand adventure.
The tale she spun for me that day has stayed with me throughout my life.
CH.8
After returning from the our war with the Followers of Talos The newly named storm breakers returned to Phandalin. Where we met a Dwarf who claimed to own Phandalin by some Ancient Agreement called the Phandalin Pact. After doing some investiging and sending out misifs to officals the party left town to slay the White Dragon that has been plauging the area. Along their journey the group ran into an Ice Troll. After a battle that almost left Kanenas dead and killing the Ice Troll. The newly risen Rune knight under the direction of Torgan cut out the heart of the Ice troll to consume so that he may gain temporary immunity to even the deadliest of cold.

The party journeyed forth into the Neverwinter woods, after our talk with the Centaur, Zanth. He told us the locations of the last members of the cult of Talos. Aftewe r hours of walking through the woods we arrived at the Woodland Manse. Taking the more cautious approach our party waited till the first light of dawn to attack. It was then that I noticed something odd. I was able to see through the darkness as if it was day. I decided to put this most worrying change to my physiology aside till after the battle, and use it to my advantage. We snuck around back and slayed the boars that defended the outside. Entering the building we entered into combat with twig blights, vine blights, orcs, half orc ankorites, and a golthias tree. Slaying each of these foes one by one till all that was left was Granoc, the ankorite. After some teleporting shenanigans the party was able to fell him and drop him from the air to the hard ground. After looting the building and getting electrocuted by some reinforcements the party headed to falcons hunting lodge. The party warned Falcon of the upcoming attack on his lodge and then headed out to the circle of thunder.
At the circle of Thunder the party faced off another group of Ankorites. After defeating the last one, with his final breath he summoned a Thunder boar; divine beast of Talos. With the assistance of my fire rune chains the party the party slayed the Thunder boar with ease.
Letter to Full Scrivener Dustroot
Uktar 19 1492 DR
To my dearest friend and mentor Full Scrivener Estmous Dustroot
Estmous how are things going at the temple, have their been any new collections added, or any interesting missives copied recently? How is Alister doing? Has he had any luck catching that gang of hooligans that have been plaguing the area? I have been doing well since my departure from the city. I have arrived in the town of Phandalin safely. after arriving I met several new friends and formed a party with them. Together we have traveled around the area and vanquished several enemies, such as Half orc servents of the dark god Talos, a divine beast of Talos a Thunder boar, a Young Green Dragon, and a nest of the undead. My group is finally preparing for our journey to slay the White Dragon that has been blighting the area.
I have recently run into some trouble that requires further investigation. My friend the Dragonborn Knight Sir Nessbit was recently given the land of Phandalin to rule over by our good and just Lord Protector Sir Neverember. But after returning from our most recent adventure, we returned to Phandalin to find a Dwarf who claimed that this land was his, by some 400 year old agreement called the Phandelver Pact. I was hoping you could provide me with information on this pact so that I may study it. We have also run into trouble with a possible resurrection of a Dracolitch. I would be most thankful if you could send of any information you could find about said creature and its relation to the town of Phandalin. The term Necropolis Shard is associated with the creature. Any information that you can give on the topics would be most useful and welcome.
All of this has been both exhilarating and stressful. But besides all of that I have recently begun developing odd abilities. I can suddenly see perfectly at night without any spell augmentations. I can read langues that I have never studied before I can cast strange magics that I have never showed an aptitude for before. I know glyphs of power that can transfer damage, or bind a creature in shackles of fire. Any incite either you or Alister could provide would be welcomed.
From your friend and student,
No one
P.S. I have included a copy of several spells from a spell book that we have found with this letter. Please copy it and store it in the temple.
Prayer for the Journey ahead
Tomorrow I will head out of the city of Neverwinter for the first time. I plan to head out and take on a quest for Lord Neverember and help some adventurers in the town of Phandalin kill a white dragon. I feel the need to pray as I was taught, by writing the prayer in my journal so that it may be remembered forever.

CH.6
It was late into the night When our party approached the Shrine of Savaras , A I ready myself to help my new companions gain retribution for the deaths of their fallen friends. But we noticed the camp was quiet; to quiet. So Kally with her usual bravado transformed herself into a spider and went to see what the orcs were doing. But a few minutes later Sir Nessbit informs the group that Kally has been taken down by something inside the Shrine. The party sneaks forward in the blinding darkness, only to run into an enemy. Not a living breathing orc but a hoard of undead led by the now monstrous remnants of the groups old friends. We cut them down one by one working through Ralzic, Ethyl, And finally Bright Song; Each now a powerful type of undead. Each soon mournfully dispatched by their former allies.
During this Jareth had climbed up to the bell tower to revive the unconscious Kally. Once all the undead were dispatched Kally kicked the lid off of a sarcophagus ands promptly fell unconscious. The party tried their best to wake her to no avail. But soon she was awake and bore terrible news. The god of this temple had granted her a vision of the Dracolitch under the mansion being freed by the necromancer Glasstaff, how this dark wizard found this place and raised the dead here to do his dark bidding. And also the location of the white dragon somewhere in the mountains. This revelations led to several arguments against Kally and the rest of the party. Though they seemed to have been resolved for the mostpart by the light of dawn.
Personal Diary 2
Fuck, A dracolitch has been released. Fuck! Kally is on the verge of leaving the group. Fuck! No I set out on this journey to slay a dragon and so what If I have to kill an undead body hopping Dragon that is also a master of powerful magic and possibly wants to xenocide all life. Oh fuck we are doomed.
Personal Diary
Dear Diary
I have a very weird last few weeks. First of all after I left Neverwinter for some fresh air and a dragon slaying adventure to add to my book. Over all I think it has gone well I have met some new companions. There is Sir Nesbit, He seems to be an honorable man, but he is carrying the sadness of loss, which I recognize. But I know only time can heal some wounds and the most one can do is try not to reopen them. Next is Torgan, I find him to be driven and passionate, after the buissness with the wisps I find myself wanting to prove that I am worthy of his respect; but I don't think that is going very well. Then Kally, the shapeshifting Firbolg? Human? Ball of anger and butt kicking awesomeness? (The last one seems more appropriate.) She is super cool but is very exasperating and does not listen to sensible advice. Like using Fire!!!
Ch.5
Kanenas had a weird day. He woke up from what he could only guess was a divine dream. After everyone woke they with a little magical assistance sneaked their way to the cultists. As Kanenas Kicked open the door and attacked the cultists. as he moved back Jareth killed him and all the dragon cultists with a fireball. Afterwards he was healed he turned into a giant, The party was then immediately sent into another life or death battle with a hoard of plant monsters and ash zombies as they attempted to explore the town. Killing them each in turn. As they continued forward Kally revealed an interesting ability to the group. She turned into a Giant Wolf spider and climbed the dragon's tower, After she returned in spider form she immediately rushed off still in Spider form and rushed over to the other giant spiders leading the group into a quick but victorious battle with them. But mere moments after killing the spiders the Druid they had met earlier Reidoth Who admonished the party for killing his guardians and then spouted some nonsense about serving Talos and having a evil Gulthias tree. This when Kanenas and the rest of the group had the "Ohhh" moment where they put weird Druid and plant monsters together. At that moment Reidith called out to the dragon to come and feast upon the group of heroic Adventurers.
They party following the lead of the implacable Dwarf, Torgan swiftly killed the evil druid. But at that moment the Young Green Dragon Venomfang came down and using his poision reath knocked out Sir Nesbit and Kanenas. The fighting raged around his unconscious form Until Jareth woke him with a healing spell. As he woke He saw his companion Kally moving up the dragon and grabbed its wings causing it and herself to plummet to the ground. Kanenas rushed towards her and using blade and holy glyph of fire he slew the fallen dragon. He used his giants might to lift the dragon off his friend and immediately crushed the corpse of the evil druid with it. After their Victory the party search the now peaceful ruined town for treasure and answers.
Interlude: Dreams of fire and clouds
After returning to the home of the Druid with my companions we slept and as I slept I dreamed. I was in front of the small shrine to Deneir that dwells in the library of Neverwinter. As I prayed I looked up upon the symbol of the candle and the eye; the sign of Deneir the scribe of Oghma, As I stared up upon his symbol and I saw his eye blink. Suddenly the candle flared and I was sitting upon a stool in the workshop of a blacksmith, He spoke about fire and the art of smithing as he crafted chains made of fire. As he spoke I took notes of his words but more importantly his work and my notes formed a single rune, Fire. He lifted the chains and quenched them in water filling the room with steam. As I looked in this world of white clouds, I saw figures move unseen, unheard. I saw arrow beings shot through the clouds and one of the figures redirected it with a breath. The notes I took now form a single image and I knew that they meant Cloud.
When I awoke I found the 2 of the 5 pieces of malachite he changed. They both were now cut into a more regular shape with a hole through the top to allow a leather thread to go through them. But more then that on one side of each token was the runes that I had seen in my dreams a rune of Fire on one and a Rune of Clouds on the other. On the back of both was the symbol of the candle and the eye. Praise be to Deneir who has recognized the work that I have done in his name.
Ch. 4
The next day after recovering from the White dragon attack the party set off to the ruined town of Thundertree. Once the party arrived we investigated the town for a treasure the older members of the group were told about. After a short amount of time looking around wary of rumors of the undead I opened a door and saw several ashen zombies inside. I immediately tried to close the door but my immense strength tore the door off of its hinges. After quickly dispatching the first one I was separated from the group. While I faced this hoard of the undead the rest of the party were attacked by living trees. I, with the help of Torgan's Drake, single handedly defeated the horde of undead. These things were disgusting, when I attacked them they spread ash all over me. It was quite unclean. After defeating all the creatures the party met with a very unhelpful Druid who refused to see how valuable his ability to clean things truly is. This Druid told us that a green dragon lived in the area as well as some cultists that the party seemed to know. Unfortunately no one wanted to listen to my brilliant idea of burning the brush and killing the dragon with smoke. Jareth risked himself and went to retrieve the amulet we came for. The party left vowing to return once we retrieved the legendary dragon slaying sword from the Barrow of Lady Tanamir Sion of Neverwinter.
The Adventures of Kanénas The Plight of Phandalin (First Draft)
May this work hold a fragment of the Metatext; praise be to Denier the lord of language
CH.1
I arrived in the town of Phandalin today along with a train of many hopeful individuals. I was hired along with several other adventurers to aid the town of Pandalin. Senric, the “leader” of our group has been a complete and utter prick, though a useful one. Once in Phandalin I met one of the Adventurers, Sir Nessbit. He seemed to be in deep grief over the loss of his companion Bright Song. My keen senses led me to gain his trust and to commensurate with his loss. Following the lure of destiny I met his companions along with a strange tiefling cleric looking for one of the lost companions. After quickly gaining the groups trust through my roguish charms. THey told me of their plight, their lost friends and how they were hunting down the white dragon. After getting to know each other we went to take care of their weird basement but little did we know that a cycloptic abomination and its pet spectator had taken up residents down there.
CH.2
The Cycloptic aberration the Nothic sicked his pet Spectator; a beholder kin, after the party. The spectator turned its eyes on the monk Jareth and struck him dumb for a moment. Fortunately he was harder than the creature thought and rose with a pale expression on its face. We quickly fled down the secret passage so that we would not die by its creepy gaze. After escaping the tunnel I hid myself next to the door and readied myself to attack the creature as my companions doddled in the passage. Then a strange beauty came out of nowhere and charged into the passage. Only to find that the monk and paladin slayed the creature with their holy powers. We then charged forward my self and the dragonborn paladin jumped into the crevasse and with the assistance of the strange woman kelly we slew the Nothic
Afterwards I found a chast and went to it for traps. After quickly checking it over I discovered some small amount of treasure inside. But what drew my eye the most was five small malachite stones that seemed to call out to me. Promising power. And strength when I was ready. But when I returned I found a strange ghostly hand had appeared out from deeper within the crevasse warning us of danger and doom.
Ch.3
After leaving the mansion the group quickly convened to discuss their next move. They decided on a course of action starting with a quest to retrieve an amulet, finding a dragon slaying sword and ending with revenge. By the slaying of the orcs that killed their companions. After quickly dealing with a few matters in town. Such as Senric and his place in the town. I went off to investigate the barrow but discovered very little. After leaving town we hicked for hours before settling down for the night. But as I and the Monk Jareth kept watch The rumored white dragon swept down to devour us. But with some quick spellcasting by the tiefling cleric Ozmus we were able to delay the creature. My self and the Dwarven Ranger Torgan fired off many and arrow and bolt at the beast driving it away in fear for its life.
