Sheperds Flock

When Meropis was founded, The Wizard invited all magic users, divine, arcane and nature based to take part in its creation. The circle of druids of the woods convened on whether they should join Meropis. All Archdruids voted against, except Hermes.   Hermes left the woods and many followed him to Meropis. He founded the Green District and ruled there for many years. When age seemed to claim him Hermes became one with the tree central in the district. His concioussness is still one with the tree and he often gives cryptic advice to the druids that rule the district now.

Inhabitents and Role

The Flock used to consist mainly of druids and rangers, but nowadays all walks of life can be found there, as long as they respect and protect the border between nature and civilisation.    Tribal warriors channeling the fury of beasts to combat foes, Green Knights sworn to defend nature and its denizens, Treants who build and maintain houses interwoven with trees and maybe most importantly; farmers who raise cattle and till fields. The last group is important, because most food consumed within Meropis is grown in the Green District. This is done most efficiently as powerful druids can enrich the lands to create a great bounty of food. Food is also grown in glass houses and towers with multiple levels. Even underground amidst the roots of the Sheperds Tree funghi and underground vegetables are grown.   The Flock is also responsible for waste extraction across the city. Specialised funghi, plants and animals make sure that the city is in pristine state. Without this district Meropis would surely fall to ruin.

Relation with other Districts

The Flock generally shuns technology, as they think it pushes the boundry between nature and civilisation more towards the side of civilization. Metal tools and equipment are scarce in the district, opting to use hardened wood and obsidian to fill the role metals normally fill. It is no surprise that in recent years they have clashed with the up and coming Copper District.
