A joint effort between the core worlds of the federation to create a near pre-tech level construction facility capable of creating even Capital class ships. It was here that the majority of the modern federation fleet was manufactured, including it’s three Capital class ships.
The shipyard is capable of manufacturing or repairing dozens of smaller class ships at once, or focusing on fewer numbers of larger class ships, through its modular worker-cell design. It has the capacity to work on one of the largest class ships - capital ships - at a time, though only a handful of these have ever been manufactured, all controlled by the
Asmaran Federation. The majority of starships are commissioned by the federation, with harsh federal regulations placed on who else can commission ships, and what can be manufactured for non-military purposes.
Now owned and operated by
Journey Engineering, the shipyard was once a part of a larger
mandate station network orbiting Tangah, that has since broken apart, either falling to Tangah's surface or becoming derelict and unusable. The particular shipyard that makes up the foundation of the AFS was the one most intact, and through a joint effort of the
Triad Systems Alliance it was brought back into working order in an effort to gain an edge on the quickly encroaching pirate forces from the
Kamchatka system, the
the Turtle Skull Fleet.
