Yokono Atsutane
A tiefling, talented wizard, and the head of the second branch of the Atsutane Clan. She resides at the Atsutane Estate in the Ko Ward of Nanganato with her direct family.
Personal History
Yokono was born in S247 and grew up in Bashuku, where her mother, Yukiko Atsutane, was Regent. Yokono's mother pressed her hard to study and grow powerful, always trying to prove that their branch of the clan was superior to all others. Growing up with such a focus on proving herself, Yokono became a little bitter and resentful of the main branch of the clan. She especially looked down on the Mitsugu's twin sons, Zannur and Zederic. She viewed them as rivals rather than extended family. This became especially true as all three of them grew up and Yokono was the only one who developed any affinity for magic. The Atsutane clan had historically been very powerful arcane practitioners, so Zannur and Zederic were very much out of the ordinary. In S263 her grandfather, Kafu Atsutane, retired as the Regent of Nanganato. Shortly after, Yokono moved to the Atsutane Estate in the Ko Ward of Nanganato to study with him. In S269 Yokono was appointed regent of Ganeshuku, a position which her mother assured her would be temporary. Yokono had her sights set on a position in Nanganato instead. In S286 Yokono gave birth to a daughter, Yoshike. The birth had been complicated, leaving both Yokono and her daughter in poor health which took nearly a year to recover from entirely. Owing to this poor timing, Zannur inherited the title of Daimyo of the Southern Province when Mitsui Atsutane was ready to retire. Even more egregious, Zannur named Eledric Kina the Regent of Nanganato. Feeling extremely slighted, Yokono made it her personal mission to ensure that her daughter would outclass Zannur's sons, Yoshi and Yazzi, in everything that they ever did. The mission was ultimately cut short when the boys were assassinated in S289, but Yokono did not back off. Instead she started using her influence to ensure that Yoshike would outclass Zannur's young daughter Amisaki instead. In S293 her hard work finally began to pay off when Zannur moved her to Nanganato to serve as the new Daimyo of the South. She reclaimed the Atsutane Estate in the Ko Ward, where she had once lived with her grandfather, and moved her daughter there to train and surpass Amisaki at all costs.
