Mitsui Atsutane
Mitsui was a powerful wizard who served as Regent of Nanganato between S221 and S244, Daimyo of the Southern Province between S222 and S287, and head of the Atsutane Clan between S232 and S289.
Personal History
Mitsui was born in S191. His mother Kiriu Atsutane, was the head of the Atsutane Clan and raised Mitsui at Shimaho in Nanganato. He studied hard and proved himself to be a very talented wizard and dedicated civil servant. As a young adult he fell in love and married quickly, eager to start his own family before the burdons of running the clan eventually fell onto his shoulders. In S220 he had a son, Mitsugu. Unfortunately his wife died in childbirth and Mitsui never remarried. In S221 he was named Regent of Nanganato, and in S222 he was named Daimyo of the Southern Province. In S232, following the death of his mother, he became the new head of the clan on top of everything else. He struggled raising his son, a very talented wizard, and taking care of his official duties as well. In S235 he sent Mitsugu to study at Sukorak under Silia Lai, a close family friend. In S243 he was devestated by the death of his son and daughter-in-law, and decided to raise his two grandchildren (Zannur and Zederic) personally. In S244 he assigned his regent of Nanganato title Kafu Atsutane, who had been serving as regent of Bashuku as the time. Mitsui appointed Kafu's daughter, Yukiko, to Bashuku in his place. At the same time he also appointed Kafu's sister, Kozue as the regent of Ganeshuku. In doing so, he effectively advanced Kafu's branch of the family from third to second. He appointed his grandson Zannur regent of Nanganato in S263 and Daimyo of the South in S287. In S289 he was was the victim of an assassination attempt. He died protecting his great-granddaughter, Amisaki, from assassins who killed her older brothers Yoshi and Yazzi.
