Underground Library

Having people from so different backgrounds living in small village is only safe if you have some rules and everyone works together to not annoy each other. That means sometimes the price of harmony is to bite your tongue or ignore some cravings.
The library is the only place where those limits don't apply. Well, in the last decade a few objects have been baned from the library after causing to many dangerous incidents; but that's only because people agreed that it was more the danger than the benefit of having those.

Purpose / Function

I'm pretty sure Sigil suggested to build a library out of nostalgia. She isn't even exactly a party girl, not even by her world's standards.
However, she did said that The Village needed one, and whoever owns this house emptied the basement and put a sign inviting people to bring their books and make an "Earth-like library", which wasn't confusing because back then we didn't have employees from so many places called Earth, and Sigil had tell so many stories of her world that they knew more or less enough about the concept.

You know what we are missing still? A proper entertainment place, without all this rules or the ever present question of "what if they laugh or get angry?" stoping people from really being and enjoying themselves. Maybe nothing as crazy as a library... man, I miss libraries.

Not that they cared much about what was put in Earth's bookshelves. The whole point was that, in this kind of library, everything goes. Bringing a magazine from their world was just as valid as organizing gambles in one corner of the basement. Most people follows the "stories and records" theme, but nothing stops you from making it about art or politics. Which is why there is a bar right there, see? A form of art in someone's world. And that shady people that is probably ploting againts the current granter used to have their meetings here... I wonder where did they went with their crazyness...

Hazards & Traps

Yeah, I guess there might be some. Games and tricks and the very mood of some of the people. It's different every day so I can't do more than asking you to be careful and making sure that you are wearing your beat.
That's why Gael and the admin of Damage control don't like outsiders visiting the place. Katerina wont miss a chance to ask for it to be closed, and I'm pretty sure that Gael agrees with her, but he knows that's not going to happen, so he tries to use his position as part of the reading club to try and slowly reduce the risks instead.

Literally a library, and literally underground, in the basement of... we are not sure who. There are some theories, but everyone can enter the garden and living room, while nobody has seen anyone unlocking any of the other rooms in the house.

You might feel chills once in a while. The environment of the place is constantly adapting around each form of book and knowledge storage, to provide the best conditions for them.
Don't worry, just a few days ago Gael convinced them to ban the obituaries, so you aren't going to age and become dust in a milisecond for confusing one of those with a reading light.

Sensory and Appearance

As you walk down the stairs you might probably smell the books. Whatever that means for you. Me? No, I hear whispers. I've always wondered why nobody hears the humming of servers or the tunes of storytelling songs. Either way, the feeling that sensation gives you will stay with you as long as you are in the library, but the smell itself—sound, to me—goes away once you are able to see the actual shelves filles with all sort of records and books.

I prefer the library when it's filled with chatter and smiles, but I've heard that some find it rather cozy in it's more usual state: so quiet that you can hear the crackling of the fire. And, other days, you will find dancing or games... or a fight, but you would probably recognize that from the living room.

No matter the circumsntance, it's always organized and clean; let me know if you catch anything puting itself back where it belongs, I've never managed to see when it happens.
