Shinferric Duchy

The Duchy of Shinferric lies in the south of Morogar, and encompasses the county of Gaulpin and the Barony of the Silver Bead Islands. The duke of Shinferric lives in the mountains east of Glenglass, in Shinferric Castle.

Industry & Trade

Apart from fishing villages along the coast and some wheatfarms in the south, most of the wealth of Shinferric comes from trade and tolls. During the Golden Epoch Shinferric was an active mining province, that enjoyed the fruits of the Rygan Mountains, but during and after the Second War of Ashes several incursions of orcs, dark elves and dangerous monsters from the mountains meant that much of the north of the duchy was abandoned, and the growth of Glenglass as a tradehub meant that the tolls and taxes the duke could collect from merchants sailing into Glenglass harbour, and arriving from the east on the Ember Road were more than enough to help make the Duke of Shinferric rich. The taxes from Gaulpin, one of the most prosperous counties in all of Morogar, doesn't hurt either.
