Picket
Picket is a grim and focused man who has little to say and prefers to be alone. Like most rangers, Picket is scruffy, dirty, and could use a bath. He tends to have furs and leaves sticking out of his armor like a mountain man, although his weapons and tools are always in immaculate condition and carry a keen edge. As a journeyman Marshal, Picket is one of several of his order charged with protecting the people and creatures of The Greenwood, as well as preserving the natural ecosystem of the area.
Picket is a sworn enemy of the Satyrs, and has been known to hunt them obsessively when they encroach on his charged protectorate on the east side of the Caal River, even when he is outnumbered and outmatched. In GR 34: Rise of Winged Swords, Picket was secretly tracking a Satyr war party by himself when he was detected and attacked by the Satyrs he was tracking. Left for dead, it was only due to a chance encounter with Baldron Haywarde and Andreu Jörin and the presence of nearby steeple bee hives (which produce healing honey) that his life was saved. Picket became fast friends with Baldron and Andreu, and repaid their life-saving efforts by acting as their guide and protector as they traveled through the Greenwood on their quest.
When Lord Marshal Reneslar left the Marshal Tower in the Greenwood to confront the Witch Evanchoris in the East, Picket saw it as his sworn duty to act as steward of the area along with the other Marshals who remained. He is responsible for thwarting a number of nefarious plots and corruptions that intended harm to the Greenwood (such as in GR 36: Greenwood Shadow), and the folk of the Greenwood have great respect and reverence for him, even if his name is not a famous one to those outside the Greenwood. The Sylvan people especially hold Picket in high regard, and the feeling is mutual.
