Don System I
VNY's notes:
Don System I and Don System II were registered, explored, and catalogued by -- according to the Official History that I found in a museum at Mrlsst Trade and Science Academy -- a multigenerational family that decided to go hyperspace exploring before certain legal troubles could catch up with them in the Sefon System. Everything got named after individual family members. They apparently did fairly well for themselves in the long run. I don't understand the story of how Don wound up naming the systems and the easiest-to-colonize planets, but it has to have something to do with how the family wound up in this dead-end back eddy of hyperspace in the first place.
The only way to get here is to hit the Shapani Bypass until you arrive at Mrlsst. Then go to Lusk System. Then decide you're not off in the astrocartographical weeds far enough, and split off as if you are going to travel the wilds of hyperspace toward Alisandor System only it turns out that some reckless soul already did it and seeded navbuoys to boot.
And now you are in Don System. What are you going to do with yourself?
"Get a drink," you are probably thinking.
Well, don't.
Not even if it is handed to you in a sealed bottle.
I would be cautious about the food, too.
I'm gonna go see if Doc stocked anything a little stronger than the usual nerve-soother, because I don't think meditation is keeping up.

Geography
The system primary is Sar, a G9 V Yellow Main Sequence star.
The closest orbit to Sar is an asteroid belt known locally as "Freckles" or "Don's Freckles". A Mentat told me that the Freckles used to be a planet on the smallish side and its two moons, but they got smashed by a comet back in the Dynastic Era.
Mikki, a moonless, atmosphere-free, heavily pockmarked rock planet, is mostly made of iron. Plenty of people are interested in mining it, but there's the "not getting smashed" problem since a lot of space junk travels between Don's Freckles and Sar's Belt -- if the miners don't manage to take this planet apart first, someday a big enough rock is going to come looping out of another orbit and hit it.
And that's the other half of Mikki's problem: Sar's Belt is a second asteroid belt, this time of the "lumpy bits of the original accretion disk that never coalesced into a single spot" variety. A fair bit of mining happens in Sar's Belt. There are in fact six small space stations scattered evenly around the belt, built into some of the largest asteroids. Force knows why none of them have been hit by any comets or other junk in irregular orbits. This system really takes a beating for not having any gas giants to apply gravitational braking.
Don I is the second planet out in this system, occupying the fourth orbit. It does not have any natural moons, and even Traffic Control mostly resides safely within the magnetosphere and atmosphere of Don I.
Next out is Sarangerel and its two moons, Gantulga and Naran. None of them have native atmospheres, but Sarangerel has several domed mini-cities half-buried on its surface. They require a lot of qualifying to visit, including three weeks in quarantine, so I probably will never have the chance to go be a tourist there.
The last three orbits in this system are all occupied by ice planets which are mostly referred to in the stellar index by numerical designation, but I did hear some locals refer to them as "Piers", "Liz", and "Burke". I don't know which one was which.
