Chrysalis

The Resting place of Laku, Dragon of Transmutation, surrounded by a wall of mountains, a crater lies in the center with the partially resurrected Dragon

Geography

The surrounding plains are ceased as mountains reaching high into the clouds, with sheer cliffs on the exterior walls of the sarcophagus of Laku jut from the ground. The mountains offer little in the way of ascending, as only a few paths have been forged in the area.   The primary path available connects Heartgrave and Gahlaku City, the Lecrander Trail, hand mined by Dwarves of United Provinces of Rigin as a gift to Crasia IX.   After penetrating the exterior mountain range, within lies a crater, holding the corpse of Laku. However, this is not a sight available to any. Those that have managed to see this report a deadly climb, regardless of magical abilities, where the climber is the bottom of the food chain.

Ecosystem

From the exterior, the mountains seem barren, covered only in rocks, dirt and snowfall from above.   However, some that stray off the beaten paths have reported that an entire ecosystem has formed inhabiting the Chrysalis, the appearance of no creatures is on purpose. Living on the mountain, absorbing more of the magic leaving Laku's corpse has quickened their evolution, and allowed stranger abilities to manifest

Localized Phenomena

Within the Chrysalis, lies the corpse of Laku, Dragon of Transmutation. Though he has been slain, he remains part resurrected and continues to emanate magic to his surroundings like radiation, referred to as Distortion. Any creatures that remain here will unknowingly be absorbing this magic, which may affect them in a variety of ways:
  • Magical surges
  • New mutations
  • New Abilities
  • (In some cases) Death
  • Fauna & Flora

As a result of the Distortion, Flora and Fauna have been rapidly evolving to adapt to their similarly evolving counterparts. Consequently, the environment has become a much more hostile one, with plants commonly biting the herbivores back, and carnivores capable of absurd feats to secure their next meal.

    Natural Resources

Within the Mountains of the Chrysalis, closer to the crater than the exterior, a new mineral has been found in small quantities. Those that know it call it Molten Bone, for its bright white glow and warm to the touch feeling. Rumors say it improves the holders magical abilities
