Cap's Retreat
A rustic-feeling, post-and-beam affair with sturdy floors and exquisite joinery. It's rumored that Cap's place will just get up and float, when the big flood comes to wash us all away.
Purpose / Function
An inn ands tavern, known for a fantastic nut-brown ale.
Entries
There is a main, double-door entrance, and a single door in the back. Doors to the kitchen and the rooms beyond are behind the bar. Customers go outside to get into their rooms.
Sensory & Appearance
It smells like pipe smoke, and there are lots of sea chanties being bandied about somewhat willy-nilly. It is a solidly built place. It is welcoming. It is busy, but laid back at the same time; as if the owner has seen it all, and the world has no surprises left for them.
Denizens
Lots of grizzled old sailors, men women and otherwise, come here for drink and companionship. Cap is well loved throughout the city.
Contents & Furnishings
The bar is oak, with a polished mahogany top and brass arm rail. All of the tables and chairs are substantial enough to serve as life-saving floatation devices all on their own. The glass and serving ware is from Marketoon, having the distinctive smoky look and shatterproof properties so famous amongst Toonian craftsmanship.
Valuables
There are curios and treasures from the world around filling every nook and cranny.
Special Properties
The food and drink within somehow never goes bad.
Alterations
It is always undergoing maintenance and upgrading, all by the owner operator himself; and old mariner going by the cryptic name of The Captain.
Architecture
It is built much like a ship; doweled and dovetailed, custom fit and built with grown-curved trees from his own timber properties north of Stilton Head.
Defenses
It is a simple city inn.
History
Cap built and opened this place just after one of the many floods the Whitten Delta is famous for.
Tourism
It is always full; mostly with older, retired mariners and deep water sailors.
