Session 21

General Summary

21st Day of Julista

The party awoke in fancy suite; surveyed the picturesque views of Pruessmount and .... didn't know what to do. After a bit of banter, it was decided to strike out alone and follow up on things individually.
Balthazar roamed the town looking for details on the unpopular regressive political faction in the Assembly known as the Ortag. They seemed intent on disturbing the relative ease of the political situation in the city and undoing popular egalitarian legislation. The group was headed up by a man named Kriegal; something to follow up with later. Balthazar spent the afternoon visiting the beautiful sights and eventually ending up at the The Acastus Consortium . While regaling the stweard of their parties feats; the Commander Aliosa Aachen asked if they were the party of adventurers from Platzburg. Seeing as they had the good graces of her brother, Reese Aachen ; she offered them a contract. There was apparently a flying monster reeking havoc outside the town of Rutzburg which needed slaying.   Sandro headed to the Justice House of Tyr to complete his next step in the path of the Justicar. He was asked to render a verdict upon a man named Leonard. After interviewing the principal witnesses Sandro laid down his verdict; Guilty of Conspiracy to commit crimes (with a light sentence of community service), but not guilty of the murder of Chom. This surprised Justicar Devlin, who ultimately agreed with the light sentence, but pushed Sandro on the issue of non-guilt of murder. The discussion only confused Sandro more on the true nature of the inherent laws put down by Tyr in Terrania. Next he headed to the Athenaeum to dig a little into who Theo Hardie could be. With some help from a staff member he found a well researched biography written by a local of Pruessmont. Since the book included an address, Sandro thought it best to seek the man out; Meralin Ignacato.   Dirt using the info Bob had supplied earlier; headed over to the Eastgate Pub to hopefully chat with Rory Lalund; a bounty hunter tracking Desmond. Surprisingly, Rory was free wheeling with the info he had collected. Desmond set up a meeting between himself, a powerful real estate guild; The Steadfast Key and a trade guild called the Central Highstate. While Rory and his fellow hunters waited outside the guild; a fight broke inside; apparently caused by a drow woman; (possibly Kerelei ) and Desmond seemingly disappeared. Rory slid over the address of the guild telling Dirt "“Just something you might be interested in for … you know.. for sightseeing".   The party me back up at their suite in the Princess Inn to figure out their next course of action. Sandro convinced the group to meet with Meralin to find out about the dagger.. and maybe some other objects they encountered. The elderly halfling Meralin was happy to share with them his love of Theo's work, and divulged a dagger previously owned by Theo had been stolen from him. Balthazar revealed they had the dagger. Meralin said he had a box which he believed the dagger could open; and after a bit of convincing the party agreed. Inside was a journal written by Theo explaining the terrible nightmares he suffered after the events of the The Trail of the Twelve . They and the dagger (adorned with the symbol of Myrkul) led him to a ruin outside Lugencroft, which he was too fearful to enter.   Before heading back to their suite; the party decided to head over to A to Byssal; a business specialized in all things Demon and Devil. There they met a red tiefling with a large sword named Yazdanti . She immediately sniffed out the Vezzeria 's amulet around Sandro neck; and gave him the grim news he would need to convince the succubus to willingly give up her control of him. Showing the abyssal cypher to Yaz sent her into a tizzy. She explained these were the key to opening abyssal gates demons use to pass from the Abyss to Terrania. She offered to buy the cypher so she could use it to close the gate it was connected to. The party was obviously skeptical about her true motives. She tried to assuage their trepidations by explaining demons under the command of Baphomet killed her mother, and she has strove to end the abyssal threat to Terrania. She offered a locket; the last vestige of her mother, as collateral. This finally convinced the group, and they left the cypher with Yaz. She told them she would contact them when she found the right gate; as she wanted to show them the truth. The party headed back to their suite with the plan to head to Rutzburg the next day.
