Dwarves: Mountain

Mountain dwarves are among the most common of the dwarven peoples. The mountain dwarves are on average half a foot taller than other dwarves. They have light skin that is fair or lightly tanned and green or silvery blue eyes with long light brown or red hair, growing white or gray with age. Most males and even some females have large beards and mustaches. The females are slightly shorter and less heavy than the males. They tend to be honorable and trustworthy but at the same time, they tend not to trust other races as quickly. They rather spend some time before even revealing their real names as their clan names speak volumes to a mountain dwarf. Also, they tend to be more traditionalist than their Hill Dwarf cousins.   The Mountain Dwarves were created on Tethys during the Second Age, Godswar, when their god, Urist Thunder, returned. The Dwarven Cleasing started and many of the Duergar lost their grey, dark skins and their white hair gained color. A civil war broke out. Some would follow their god to the Bel-durad Mountains, while others would try to take over fortresses. Both side would win in the end, pushing the Duergar into the Undertethys. Over the coming millennia, the Dwarves were active agents in politics of the Old World, building and rebuilding great nations.

On Tethys

The Mountain Dwarves founded many grand dwarf nations like the Alliance of Five Crowns or Osor-mor but there are still many abandoned fortresses in the world. The Mountain Dwarves tend to seek to reclaim their lost lands, maybe even starting a new clan that way. Their hatred towards Duergar is unmatched, much more than Elves feel towards the Drow.

First World

Mountain dwarves were the most common dwarf in the First World and those that survived int he Forgotten Lands are the most religious ones. They found some connection with Urist Thunder thus they started to serve him instead of their Urist Thunder (similar named).
