Profile

Vena has been working with the ARA for several years, but only became its head librarian recently. The older agents sometimes talk about Vena's time as a field agent, and some are convinced she was on track for a position in the Aether Division in a few years' time. She doesn't talk about her reasons for her change in occupation, but one thing is certain: she's damn good at her new job. The ARA library is well-organized, well-kept, and well-stocked with pertinent info for anything the field agents need.

Vena can come off as carefree to those who don't know her, but she takes her position very seriously, and she knows a great many things about a vast array of topics. Her knowledge of the arcane is especially formidable, so much so that the magitech engineers sometimes go to her for advice. She's very perceptive and has an incredible sense of smell, sight, and hearing, so she often overhears secrets that people don't expect her to hear.

Physical Description

Vena has a long, slender lizard-like jaw, bright golden eyes, and a magenta crest of feather-like scales on the top of her head that continues down her back, fading into cyan and fanning out at the tip of her tail. Her scales are a deep but understated purple that shifts hue slightly when viewed from different angles, and they gradually fade into indigo along the length of her tail, with some navy stripes running along her neck, tail, and arms. Vena tends to wear loose-fitting clothing made of slightly thicker fabrics that won't catch on her scales, but will occasionally don more flowy dresses that are enchanted to be resistant to tearing when she wants to feel fancy. Her hands are well-manicured, and her claws are painted delicately to match her outfit. Vena often accessorizes with elaborate bangles around her wrists and ankles, and has custom-made sandals that wrap all the way up to her knees. She carries herself with a certain poise that often makes her appear much taller than she actually is, which is probably aided both by her slender figure and her long tail.

Relationships

The Party

For the most part, the party doesn't spend too much time in the library, and so Vena doesn't have opinions on most of them. She did notice Karnon spending a lot of time in there once looking at books on nature and religion, and Blinky and Vic are regulars that she has grown accustomed to seeing. She has an immediate appreciation for anyone who takes their studies seriously.

Of the party members, however, Sage spends more time with her nose in a book than anyone else. Since Vena is always offering new tomes for research purposes, the two have grown quite close in the short time Sage has been an agent. Vena will often tell Sage secrets or help her with her research, and has invited her to the cafe on a few occasions to force her to take breaks to eat.

Munda Novou

Vena and Munda have been good friends for a few years, and have grown even closer since Vena quit being a field agent to become the Head Librarian. Vena spends a lot of her free time at Knife, Orc, & Spoon, talking with the barista and sharing stories and gossip. Munda is not that much of an active participant in the gossip, but is a very good listener and seems to genuinely enjoy listening to whatever Vena wants to say.

Desmodius Voxell

Vena and Desmo see eye-to-eye on many topics, but they don't get the chance to talk much. Or, to be more precise, Vena doesn't get a chance to talk much when Desmo is around. She likes listening to him talk about the things he likes, though, and regularly takes time to do so. Vena considers their relationship symbiotic; she learns a lot from his ramblings, and he gets an outlet that most people at the ARA don't offer him.

Venandi Silve

Venandi doesn't often spend time in the library, and prefers to conduct his research in the relative quiet of his own office (when people aren't slamming the door, that is). Because of this, Vena doesn't see much of him. She hears enough from other people talking, however, to know that Venandi thinks highly of her, even though he hasn't said it to her face yet.
