The Ristarcan Peninsula
The Lost
Ristarca is surrounded on all sides but the north by The Lost. An empty void that stretches beyond, below, and above the edge of the peninsula. Below a thick fog rests kilometres down. Any attempt to penetrate this mist has been foiled by strong winds that rush up towards Ristarca. Above, the atmosphere quickly thins and becomes inhospitable. A sense of hostility pervades the air or so the stories say. Once a generation someone will head into it, once a century they return. The Wall
A mountain range to the west. Dotted along the eastern side are outposts, ruins, and smaller villages. Most stone and metals for the City of Marsétan are drawn from the southern peaks. Inhabitable grasslands known as the Tipping Point exist beyond the range to the northwest. Exiles, rebels, and outcasts have slowly been establishing a foothold there. However, without the direct protection offered by Marsétan and the stream of explorers, adventurers, mercenaries, and others leaving in pursuit of glory, it is a difficult and dangerous place. The Outlands
Surrounding the City of Marsétan is what is referred to as the Outlands, areas of semi-permanent habitation. Due to constant incursions and conflicts stemming from both the Wall and the Forest, the geography is in constant flux. It is dotted with farms, small villages, and outposts. The Forest
By all accounts an unending mass of woodlands that stretches out to the north and east. Rumours of places beyond emerge on occasion, but nothing that has ever been able to be verified. For the vast majority of adventurers, two days' travel into the Forest is an acceptable level of danger, past that most fail to return. The Forest plays a prominent role in the lives of those on Ristarca both as the source of fear and an unended fountain of glory.Marsétan
The City of Marsétan was formed in 413AS with the signing of the Lotus Treaty. The municipality consists of seven formerly independent cities and the territories that lay between them. It is the last known bastion of conscious-kind and the seat of power for a burgeoning city state at the end of the world.
