Taran Crater
Lying deep on the seabed somewhere near the source of Trent's Channel is the Taran Crater, a huge meteor impact crater at least 50 miles across. Scholars suppose that it was created by the The Tears of Celestian, in a similar manner to the Rel Crater.
Pockets of methane sit under the crater and often bubble up from beneath the ground, rising slowly through the water until they burst into the air, causing a flammable hazard for shipping in the area. Some think it is these huge bubbles of methane that heat up the water and help to create the stream of Trent's Channel.
