Jubal Plains

Overview

The Jubal Plains stand as a vast geographical expanse, comprising numerous sovereign local tribes, each governed by its own customs and policies. Stretching from the towering World Spine Mountains to the tranquil shores of the White sea, the Plains serve as a buffer between the Queendom of Ilisha to the north and the Holy Empire of Concordia to the south.

Geography

Predominantly characterized by expansive grasslands, the Jubal Plains feature the majestic Lake Temu at its center. As one ventures southward, the landscape transitions into the arid desert known as the Barrens . Noteworthy features include the Mauveine Forest in the northeast and the Halister Woods in the northwest. Encircled by mountains on three sides, the Plains find their only boundary to the west, where they meet the shores of the White sea.

Wildlife

The Jubal Plains boast a diverse array of wildlife, renowned for their imposing size and unique characteristics. Among the most prominent inhabitants are the Jubal Hounds, wild dogs known for their towering stature, reaching heights of up to 3.5 meters. Despite their formidable size, these creatures are surprisingly agile and possess remarkable speed, capable of effortlessly outpacing even the swiftest of horses. Renowned for their gentle temperament, Jubal Hounds are revered by the inhabitants of the plains for their loyal and friendly nature. Dominating the skies are the awe-inspiring Rocs, massive birds with wingspans stretching up to 200 feet. These majestic creatures command the heavens with their graceful flight, casting imposing shadows across the landscape below. With keen eyesight and powerful talons, Rocs are formidable hunters, preying on smaller animals and maintaining their status as apex predators of the skies. Nestled within the muddy expanses surrounding Lake Temu  are home to colonies of Giant Scorpions. These formidable arachnids, renowned potent venom, inhabit the marshlands.

Government

The tribes of the Jubal Plains operate without a formal central government, preferring to maintain autonomy while fostering mutual respect and cooperation. Despite their independence, a formal Alliance exists among the tribes to collectively defend the Plains against external threats. Notably, the western coast of the Plains is occupied by the Crystallo Federation , an independent nation who have ocupied this region.

Plains Tribes

The Jubal Plains are home to five distinct tribes, each rooted in their respective villages and primarily comprised of different races.

Jaghatai Village

Famed for their formidable mounted cavalry, the Humans of Jaghatai Village are renowned for their mastery of the native Jubal Hound. Situated in the southern reaches of the Plains, they thrive off the land, holding vast territories as their own.

Great Nest

Occupying a series of caverns along the northern shore of Lake Temu, the Lizardfolk of the Great Nest are a resilient tribe known for their remarkable stature, with adult males standing up to 2.5 meters tall. They traverse the Plains through a network of tunnels that span the grasslands.

Radet

Comprising lake-faring Gnomes , Radet is the largest tribe, its floating town situated entirely upon the waters of Lake Temu . Renowned for their inventive engineering prowess, the Gnomes of Radet engage in extensive trade with neighboring tribes and beyond, fostering a culture of openness and innovation.

Corvus Village

Shrouded in mystery, Corvus Village is inhabited by Kalashtar and concealed within the depths of the Mauveine Forest. Maintaining a reclusive existence, the village is reportedly predominantly populated by women, its secrets guarded closely from outsiders.

Old Town

Once a thriving Dwarfen settlement on the southern border of the Jubal Plains, Old Town met its tragic demise during the 4th Plains War. Though destroyed and its inhabitants largely lost, the memory of Old Town and its people is revered by the remaining tribes as a testament to their shared history and resilience.

The Crystallo Federation

Exploiting the weakened state of the Plains following the 4th Plains War, the Crystallo Federation Expanded into the Jubal Plains, seizing nearly a third of the territory for themselves. Their aggressive expansion has led to a hostile relationship with the local tribes, particularly with Jaghatai and the Great Nest, as tensions simmer over territorial disputes and conflicting interests.
