Gynardan Mountains
"For centuries the dwarves lived in the mountains of Wordal and worshipped the mountain spirits. They made their homes on the mountain peaks and foothills and even settled in large cave systems. Over time the dwarves started expanding the tunnels, creating their own halls and legendary homes, hidden away from the surface folk. Eventually the dwarves discovered the treasures buried deep in the mountains and started mining them. This happened in all dwarven kingdoms around the same time, somewhere between 2000-1900 BP. they created elaborate mines and dug deeper and deeper. The mountain spirits were angered by the dwarven greed. Earthquakes plagued the dwarven homes and for several years the dwarven mines collapsed. The greed of the dwarves could not be helped and they continued their search for riches. In 1845 BP the mountain spirits created an army of dragons and send them down to the world with the sole purpose of destroying the dwarves.
The beginning of the Dragon War was a terrible strike against the dwarves. Fire breathing dragon flew down from the skies, setting their cities afire. Domari, strongest of the dwarven kingdoms was able to fight off the dragons in the Domart Mountains. After their victory they continued to train dragon-slayers and sent reinforcements to the other dwarven kingdoms. After the initial strike many dwarves fled to their underground halls, but soon found them invested with drakes (wingless dragons) and wyrms (serpentine creatures). Trapped in their halls they suffered terrible losses. Outside the dragons and wyverns continued to bathe the dwarven cities in fire and hoards of dragonborn laid siege to their underground cities. Ballaer was the first of the dwarven kingdoms to fall in 1778 BP, followed by Hammarkin in 1733 BP and finally Gynardia in 1699 BP. Throughout the war the dwarves of Domari managed to fend off attacks from dragons and after the fall of Gynardia the dragon felt satisfied and ended the war.
By the end of the war the dragons were largely destroyed by the dwarven forces. Only some dragons and wyverns remained and became the creatures of legends, settling in the mountains they conquered. The dwarven kingdoms of Ballaer, Hammarkin and Gynardia were destroyed with their great tunnels collapsed and nothing left but the ruins of their once great cities. Dragonborn settled in these ruins and renamed them in their own language. The kingdom of Domari was a shadow of its former self and slowly recovered over the centuries. Today it still stand, but the war has left a scar on the kingdom and its people. They hate the dragons and dragonborn with great passion."
