Sovereign Domain of Tartaria
The Sovereign Domain of Tartaria (often just called Tartaria) is a northern empire in the realm of Earth Baroque which stretches from the east of Europe into Asia and controls land with important resources near the North Pole. The current ruler is Tzar Anatole.
In the illustration at the head of this article we see one of the family rooms in the Tsaritsyno palace south of Moscow, where the Tzar holds court in the winter months. The palace is famous for the lavish entertainments which are held here, including a number of banquets to celebrate the feast days of the saints and elaborate balls, with much music and dancing. The image below shows the "green" dining room at the end of the south east wing of the Tsaritsyno palace, as the sun from the terrace gardens begins to warm it in the morning.
History
In the recent past, Tartaria has emerged victorious in a relatively short war with the Anglo-Franco Empire which has left relations between the two powers in a simmering state of hostility.
The battle of Minsk Fields, shown below, halted an attempted march on Moscow.
