Chapter 1: The Collapsing Stage
General Summary
The Freemen of the Dales are constantly vigilant against the Tevinter Imperium and their allies. They are continually gathering intel on the Imperium, hoping to stay ahead of a much larger military might. Stealth and espionage is the only way to ensure this war isn't one-sided and it has always been like that since the Lyrium War began. Even so, the power imbalance is immense and the Freemen lack raw strength to go against the might of the empire so they have called for assistance from anyone willing to fight for their freedom.
Outside assistance was brought in to quell a rising threat on the Island of Amaranthine, known as The Biomancers. For weeks this group of scientists was performing horrible experiments on humanoids in an attempt to create a powerful new weapon. Kidnapping, graverobbing, and murder were all on the table for the Biomancers and soon they revealed their creation, The Marionette. The Freemen of the Dales suspected that these creatures were created for the Imperium as a way to bolster their armies and draw the Freemen into the light. Needing more information on the Biomancers, the Freemen hired four individuals to bring in a man named Trilid Rumarrow for questioning. However, when Trilid's secret laboratory was raided by top Freemen Agents it was abandoned with no sign of the scientist. Now that the agents had emerged from the shadows, it was the perfect chance for an ambush. A hoard of Marionettes emerged from the sewers and overwhelmed the Freemen, leaving no survivors. The group had to go underground if they had any hope of rebuilding but the damage was done. Even a month later, that is where they remain, with no sign of their return.
Without the Freemen, the planet of Kios has had to deal with the rise of a new group known as the United Alliance of Chaos or the UAC. They are the formation of three smaller groups, The Emerald Claw Raiders, The Biomancers, and the Crimson Oars with the goal of seeding unrest in Kios. It is believed the they have an uneasy alliance with the Tevinter Imperium and it seems like it's only a matter of time before the negotiation falls through and another war begins.
