Bran City

Founded by Bran Brightstar, a Skyhome merchant who settled on Plenty around 299 TFA. Before the city was built, all trade went through Firston, which at the time was controlled by a mayor who Bran was not overly fond of. Bran established Bran City as a small trading post initially to infuriate that mayor, but over time he gained a certain understanding with The Circle, which resulted in the port gaining the exclusive right to trade wood off of the island. The particularities of this pact are known only to The Circle and mayor of Bran City, as the secret has been passed down with the office for the last one hundred and fifty years.   Bran town is the second largest city on Plenty, and is located on its west-most side. It's the busiest port-town of the island, and has the most amount of non-food related trade moving through it. Bran City also dominates the wood-trade, one of the most hotly sought after construction materials in the fractured skies.

Demographics

The inhabitants of Bran Town are mainly a population of Greenborn, who have slowly grown around the original trading post/town hall of Bran's Honest Goods. However, as a port town, all manner of people from across the Fractured Sky have made their home here, and almost any individual from any ethnicity can be found here, albeit in smaller numbers.

Government

The settlement is governed by The Stewardship of Plenty, who function as a municipal government. Heavy taxes are levied on both incoming and outgoing trade, which the city uses to purchase goods and resources not native to the islands.   The day to day running of the town is done by a city council who propose and approve new projects. The council is supported by as dozens of citizen volunteers who file paperwork, count Slivers, and organize workers. On Plenty, all manual labor is provided by citizen volunteers who donate their time and effort to help improve their home.   As with other cities on Plenty, order in Bran City is kept by The Iron Band, a military organization from the neighboring island of Molten Heart, as per agreement in The Pact. The presence of The Iron Band is lesser in Bran City, as Molten Heart cares more about the food trade that comes from Firston than the wood trade from Bran City.

Defences

Bran City is protected by The Iron Band, a group of warriors from Molten Heart, as per the agreement of The Pact. They inhabit a spartan barracks they constructed out of the remains of an old-world ruin.   At the top of each of the lighthouses is a Stone Cannon which is used for aerial defense. In addition to The Iron Band, a small number of local citizens are trained in their operation and maintenance.

Industry & Trade

The main point of trade moves through Bran's Honest Goods, through which flows both in-going and out-going trade. Wood and food is traded for Slivers metal, glass, crystals, and any other material that is not found on Plenty.   The city council sets aside a small amount of shards to buy exotic spices and curious from traveling merchant ships. They give these goods freely in what is known as the "share market", in which every citizen is allowed to take one over the course of the market day.

Infrastructure

Bran City is built in a circular pattern around Bran's Honest Goods and the shipyard which adjoins it. The streets are wide thoroughfares of paved cobblestones. The buildings are tall multi-leveled tudor buildings packed tightly together. Restaurants are everywhere, serving a wide variety of vegetable based foods. The dozens of bakeries found throughout the town fill the air with the constant scent of bread and pastries. Tall lighthouses poke above the skyline, providing guiding lights for ships docking and departing after dark. A rudimentary, but effective sewer system keeps the streets free from waste. They must occasionally be repaired due to the blundering of an earth elemental.

Guilds and Factions

The Stewardship of Plenty are the main leaders of Bran City, maintaining both the infrastructure and trade of the city. Recently, a small sect of Onenites has established itself in the town's west end and has slowly begun to grow a congregation from the locals population. While mostly peaceful, some tension has been brewing due to theological differences.
